While voluminous training can be beneficial, there is such a thing as junk volume. This means that the stimulus to fatigue ratio is to high. We should aim to stimulate the muscle enough to create adaptations, but not enough to prevent adequate recovery for the next session. If fatigue is too high, this can result in missing more workouts and subsequently less total volume in that year.

FIT TIPS:

Using arbitrary numbers.

Let's say you're consuming 1,998 calories, and your macros are

180 protein = 720cal
180 carbs = 720cal
62 fat = 558cal

We will use protein in this example, but this can apply to all macros.
Let's say this individual is eating four meals a day. That would be 45 grams of protein per meal. Now, let's say this individual was consuming lean turkey for their second meal and is getting tired of turkey. They can swap out their turkey for another protein source, but in doing so, you want to make sure the protein and calories are the same when you make that swap. This way, you're keeping calories and macros the same.

Obviously, eating the same thing and not deviating too much during your cut would be the easiest way of tracking, but some people have difficulty eating the same thing day in and day out.
For these individuals, it may be ideal to eat the same foods for two weeks and swap some food items they are getting tired of eating just to make sure the macros and calories match, and continue for another two weeks.

PROGRESS UPDATE:

We initially started in the high 300s. We are now down to the low 270s and are approaching the 260s. There is a strong focus on lifestyle and sustainability.

When my friend/client first came to me, his calories were too low, and his protein was too high. This was the first time I had a client whose protein was too high. He came up with his protein amount by researching on the internet. He was relieved when I told him we were going to reduce his protein intake to a more manageable and suitable amount based on his current weight and metrics.

He also did not have a lot of energy or strength. Based on his bio-feedback, I recommended an increase in calories. I used to be overweight, so I know how scary it can be when you're increasing calories while trying to pursue fat loss. It sounds counter-intuitive, I know. However, I appreciate my friend/client trusting my knowledge and experience. Once he increased calories, his energy began to improve, his strength and output in the gym improved, and guess what. His body fat started falling off.

We still have a ways to go. Stay tuned for future updates.

Charlie's mother reached out once she saw my nephew's transformation.

Charlie is an awesome kid! He is ten years old, has a lot of charisma, and a strong work ethic. I had so much fun working with Charlie and his mother, whose support and love for her son, Charlie, was beautiful to witness.

Our journey together was 100% virtual.
We focused on resistance training.
Progressive overload.
We were not being too obsessive about nutrition and more focusing on activity level and being mindful of portion sizes.

People only see overnight success. Most people I talk to believe that I have always been in shape.

When I tell you I understand the process, it's because I went through the process myself.

They don't get to see the journey, the work, the hours I put in to get to where I am today.

The messing up on my diet, the inconsistency, the frustration, the being bullied for my weight, falling for the diet industry lies and promises of a get fit quick magical approach.

Watching my grandfather die in front of me as a child lead to me eating more and looking to food as a form of comfort, or going to school to become a personal trainer.

I am posting this photo to inspire you, and to show you that I was in your shoes. I went to school to become a personal trainer so I could help people like me lose weight and gain the confidence they never had before.

Losing fat does not require a specific "diet"
People often believe they need to do keto in order to burn fat, and that is just untrue. I am going to give you some questions that you can ask yourself to help decide what to do and cut through all the garbage the "diet" industry tries to market to you.

1. Do I enjoy eating carbs?
2. Could I go the rest of my life without carbs?
3. Would I be happy no longer eating carbs?
4. Would not eating carbs be sustainable?

We often tell ourselves, well, I just need to lose this 20lbs and so I will do keto until I lose 20lbs. That is of course if you even lose 20lbs following keto, because it's not the diet that helped you lose 20lbs, it was being in a caloric deficit. You can still gain weight following a keto "diet" For the individuals who lose the 20lbs and answered no to the questions I listed above, this is what happens... They love carbs, so they go back to their regular style of eating that caused them to gain weight in the first place. It's not the carbs that caused the weight gain it is their lifestyle of eating more calories than they are burning. The goal should be to create a lifestyle, not chase a temporary goal.

My company is online based, and it is about empowering (you) through fitness. In other words, I want you to be able to do it for yourself. I know how frustrating it can be as a beginner, and how overwhelming/intimidating it can feel to go to the gym without a plan or understanding of what to do.

I went through this for years. In fact, when I first started, I myself was overweight. This was prior to going to school and becoming a certified personal trainer and earning other certifications on adult nutrition, and as a physique and figure training specialist.

Like many of you starting out, I didnโ€™t know where to start. So, in that case, I did what everyone else does, I stuck with exercises that I was most comfortable with i.e. bench press, curls, pretty much all upper body. I never trained legs. Oh, and did I forget to mention, endless amounts of cardio. (I hit the wall)!!!!

I want you to be able to go to the gym with confidence, and crush it! I want you to learn how to take care of your body without having to rely on trainers for the rest of your life. When you have the ability to do it for yourself, that is true (EMPOWERMENT)!
