I’ve debated for a while how to word this. I could say “We regret to inform you….” or, “Unfortunately, our time has come to an end….” However, this is actually just a public witnessing of me walking the path of my life. I believe that all situations hold meaning and purpose, therefore..no regrets, no misfortunes.
My greatest joy, and what kept me coming in, was all the conversations, connections, and opportunities you’ve given me to hold space for you as you walk your path. It was indeed my pleasure, privilege and honor. Although the shop will become empty over the next few weeks, my heart will remain full of all the memories from this experience.

Liquidation sales will begin this Wednesday with BOGO free on all retail products. The salon is no longer accepting appointments.

When tarot cards come to life right before your eyes! (The Tower card) At exactly 11:11 am the church steeple of Holy Redeemer was hit by lightning that shook and lit up Alobudra. Madison Fire Department was on the scene within minutes to contain the fire but lots of work yet to be done. Thankfully, no one was injured. Alobudra is closed today to allow space for MFD to do their work!

I’m excited to share my latest creation, Hurricane Hail Tea, crafted in honor of my mom. Born in Hurricane, West Virginia, and with the middle name Hail, this blend embodies the essence of her Southern Belle, Mountain Momma spirit. Delicate rosebuds, vibrant chrysanthemums and helichrysum, and soothing chamomile pay homage to her divine feminine energy and passion for gardens. Pu-erh tea symbolizes her early career collaborating with Chinese physicians and her adventures in Hong Kong. Stevia leaf reflects her innate charm, while a hint of cayenne captures her lively and spicy wit. And of course, no tribute to my mom would be complete without a touch of gold and glamour, hence the addition of edible gold stars. It brings you in with a little sweetness and leaves you with a WOW! Just like mom ;)

We will also offer free tastes of our newly blended Hurricane Hail (named for my mother Janet Hail, born in Hurricane WV) and just like her, its a sweet comforting blend with a lot of charm and a lil spice ;). Those familiar with me recognize my deep connection with nature. Lately, a touch of melancholy has accompanied the absence of the sun on my face and the grass beneath my feet. The desire for a barefoot hike and the longing to be surrounded by trees persist. However, this morning brought a moment of solace as I was greeted by a blooming orchid this morning. A gift received over a year ago, these orchids, previously flowerless, now offer their first bloom. Gratitude extends to nature for this unexpected delight – a subtle wink that resonates deeply. Spring is coming!!! I’m a true believer in earthing, therefore, Alobudra will be hosting some barefoot hikes, foraging and forest bathing expeditions this year….STAY TUNED! We have all experienced significant moments in our lives - witnessing the last breath of a loved one, hearing the first cry of a newborn, receiving an acceptance letter, receiving an eviction notice, scratching off a winning number, introducing ourselves to our future spouse. When you think about it, these moments happened in one second. There are so many of these important moments that have changed our lives forever. Each of these moments serves as a marker in our lives, a reference point that we cannot forget, regardless of whether they bring us elation or disappointment.

As a spiritual store owner, I notice waves and trends of energies my customers are experiencing, and lately the trend is big struggles in life. A lot of transformation is happening now with many. Its seems to be a time of shedding what was once comfortable in order to step in to new opportunities. This can be a very uncomfortable position.

My advice is to shift your perspective and focus on the possibilities and opportunities that lie in the seconds to come. In the next 7 days, there will be 604,800 seconds waiting for you. Chances are, at least one of those seconds will bring you joy, happiness, love, or support.

You have the power to choose which second to focus on.

Personally, I am mentally "collecting" my preferred seconds - a hug from a friend, finding a forgotten $20 bill in my coat pocket, receiving a heartwarming message from a faraway friend, witnessing 50 cyclists dressed as Santa ride by the store. These seconds may not have been life-altering individually, but together, I believe they hold power. So, try to relax during this holiday season and take the time to collect your seconds. There is a good chance that your life will encounter another life-altering moment. Remember that every new day is a fresh start. You could say it’s a second chance…..or a chance of a second.

My preference is to begin your salon service with a freshly brewed cup of tea (today's choice was White Pomegranate). Following that, the room is cleansed with sage and palo santo. Then after our thorough consultation I dim the lights, and I’ll guide you through a brief meditation while setting intentions for a time of relaxation, love, light, and beauty.
So what was the trick to transform this beauty into a bombshell?? Was it the technique and expertise, or was it the atmosphere and experience? Who knows! But I do know that this guest left feeling beautiful inside and out!

My first task on Mondays is sweeping up from our busy Saturday. This may appear to be the result of a busy day on the floor, but to me, it represents the meaningful connections I have been fortunate to make. I see the calendula from a woman who specially crafted a postpartum sitz bath for her friend who had just given birth the day before. Allspice from a thoughtful Pagan making simmer pots for Yule to give her coworkers. There are rose petals and jasmine from two men who created personalized bath salts as Christmas gifts for their wives. Additionally, there is mugwort from two college students who were eagerly anticipating a relaxing evening after a week of finals, as well as uva ursi from a considerate daughter who prepared a tea for her mother struggling with kidney stones. Cinnamon and passionflower were contributed by a kind young woman who is facing challenges related to CPTSD, and fenugreek was provided by a young man seeking to add excitement to his culinary offerings. There are many more stories behind these ingredients. I carefully take a small portion from this assortment and offer it to our burning cauldron as a gesture of love and blessings for both those involved in creating these gifts and those who will receive them. This is why Alobudra's atmosphere radiates an undeniable energy that is evident from the moment you step through the door.
