A new summer camp organized by OCD Wisconsin aims to help campers overcome fears associated with their anxiety or OCD. 💙

Jason Niosi, VP of OCD Wisconsin and founder of OCDfeat, has seen his own son, Dexter, benefit from therapeutic group settings as he learned how to manage his OCD. These kids won't be alone this summer, they will be with other campers who have similar diagnoses. Dexter will be there as volunteer in hopes of sharing some of what he has learned along the way. 🙌

“I remember how difficult OCD was for me, and I didn't really have control over my own life. And that was an awful feeling to have to deal with all the time, and take away focus from everything that I actually wanted to do," Dexter said.

We are thrilled to see this camp kickoff and are so proud Dexter for giving back in such a big way!

To: Dexter From: Mom

This is the post-it note Dexter's mom gave him. Something he could see every morning while getting ready for school. He had a hard time going to school sometimes, as many kids with OCD experience, and this little reminder from Mom helped him break down some of his intrusive thoughts.

He doesn’t need it anymore but he still has it up. 💙 It's a good reminder for us all as we go through life.

"OCD is literally killing my child. She was struggling with rituals and paranoia so took her anxiety pills and tried to go to bed when she said she suddenly realized that every day was going to be horrible and tortured. She got up and slit her wrists and tried to cut open her throat but the blade wasn't sharp enough. She was so angry because she said they make it look so easy on tv shows and now she has these awful scars for nothing. She still wants to die."

OCD is not Obsessive Christmas Disorder, Obsessive Claus Disorder, Obsessive Cup Disorder...

We can do better. In a quick search for Obsessive Christmas Disorder, hundreds, maybe even thousands, of products popped up on Amazon. Mugs, shirts, and countless designs, colors, and phrasing. OCD is not a quirky character trait.

As we approach the holidays, please be kind and remember these words can hurt those struggling every day with a debilitating disorder, and their loved ones. We encourage you to educate others and spread the love so we can finally put a stop to this merchandise online and in stores! 💙

To all those struggling with OCD this holiday, we see you and want you to know you have an incredible community of supporters and cheerleaders in this world!

OCD is hard, but it's manageable when the right people surround you. We have a lot to be thankful for this year. We are grateful to all those in our OCD community, from customers and caregivers to therapists and advocates. The support we've received since the launch of OCDfeat last month has been truly amazing. 🙏

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving filled with hope, love, relaxation, and understanding.

We're not talking Michael Jordan. We're talking the number of medical professionals our founder's son needed to visit before getting an OCD diagnosis. 🩺

It's said that the average person with OCD will see three to four doctors and spend around 9 year looking for treatment before receiving a correct diagnosis. We can do better!

How many medical professionals have you or a family member had to see before getting a diagnosis?

Accommodation is a natural instinct for parents that want to help their child. For children with OCD, those instincts can be feeding the OCD monster. 😈

"Mom and dad, can you stay with me until I fall asleep?"

Parents want to do anything they can to help their children. In this case, saying yes and staying with them until they fall asleep is accommodation, which feeds OCD.

Do you have trouble giving in to your child's OCD demands? Share your thoughts!

These stories are not uncommon. 💔 Our mission is to make OCD management better in those moments when you are home in between appointments and losing hope.

: "I’m struggling big time with a teenager with severe contamination OCD. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. All I do is cry, accommodate, not accommodate, yell, cry, try to hug her, repeat, and the process starts all over again. I’m lost, don’t know what to do, I feel like I’m taking care of a toddler. She used to be sweet, empathetic and that is almost gone. Our household has been turned upside down. I’ve almost resorted to sleeping in my car at night just to get away. I’m lost and tired of this."

Taking care of the caregiver is vital. 🙏

: "I can’t do this anymore. I truly cannot. He’s tearing the family apart. I’m about 2 seconds from a divorce. That should be fun with zero income because ya know how can I work when he needs me 24/7? The other kids have lost their childhoods. I’m over this sh**. I’m done. I can’t even imagine I have many years left anyway with this amount of stress on a daily basis."

✨ Life purpose realized ✨

Jason Niosi, father of Dexter and founder of OCDfeat, started this app to make managing life with OCD easier for families. ➡️

As a child, Dexter experienced 200+ doctors visits, 39 manifestations of obsessions and compulsions, 15 treatment programs, medications & dosage changes and so much more over the course of 5 years before getting the diagnosis of OCD.

A new diagnosis is scary. Jason wanted information but there wasn't a ton out there about pediatric OCD or a streamlined way to manage it (ban books, anyone?). Jason knew there was a better way. Something that could help his son, his family, and the thousands of others trying to manage OCD.

Since his diagnosis, Dexter has learned to live victoriously with OCD. It is a part of him but does not own him. His ups and downs and challenges and wins are what inspired the app and keep us going. 🙌

Last spring Jason's kids, Dexter and Ruby, saved up to get their dad a tattoo of the OCDfeat logo. Then Dexter came home from school one day and said "I got one too." 💙

Grateful you are here to support our mission, help us improve the lives of people with OCD, and be a part of our community.

OCD does not have a cure. But it will get better. 🫶

is raw and real. It highlights stories you might not be able to imagine unless you are living through it. Can you relate? ⬇️

"Feeling like s**t today after I lost it on my dtr last night. She has OCD and lost one of her 8 hair clips she MUST have in her hair in a certain way. This is the 2nd time its happened this week before bed and she REFUSES/cant lay or try to go to bed until “she finds it.” Every single day She is crying for one to two hours on and off about some new trigger. She also has been unable to bathe for 5 days bc she is scared to take her hair out and wash it. Im so so tired. I just want to live a semi functional life and not lose my temper on my kid so often. I want her to stop suffering and be the way she was before this last ocd regression. We started her on meds yesterday, starting ERP this week. Someone tell me it will get better."
