Today marks my 28 years on this big floating space rock and I have but one wish for my birthday.
I am asking everyone to go out and get involved in politics this year. GO VOTE👏🏻
Go out on November 5th and exercise your right to vote! Donate your time to go campaign for the candidate you want to see in office for the next 4 years. I urge everyone to have the uncomfortable conversations this year and encourage family/ friends to get involved this year as well.
It’s no secret that I would love to proudly call Kamala Harris Madam President for the next 4 years but I am very aware not everyone agrees with that. For all who may not want to see a second Trump presidency or the first Harris presidency I ask you to still vote this year. I know how sh*tty it feels to walk into a voting booth and being faced with the question of “what’s the lesser of two evils” and not feeling proud of who you cast your vote for. Your vote can still be so important though. I would love for everyone to see an election in their life where they can be proud of their parties nominee. Proud to vote. It’s not a luxury every American will get every year but it is still the most valuable right we have been guaranteed as American citizens. It is a right that was hard fought and hard won by the people who came before us. It is all of our duty to use our vote and use our voice for ourselves, fellow Americans, and future generations.

Exercising your right to vote is one of the most important and patriotic things you can do for not only yourself but also your country and fellow citizens. So much is at stake with this upcoming election and rather you love/hate our two most likely candidates, voting couldn’t be more crucial. I encourage everyone to look around at the people you love over the next 92 days and consider how your voting choices could affect them. Think about the type of person each candidate has shown themselves to be, the legacy they want to leave to the American people, the future they want to shape for the generations ahead, and the policies they want to implement during their time in office. In the words of Theodore Roosevelt “A vote is like a rifle; its usefulness depends upon the character of the user.” and every person has the ability to use their vote and their voice for an act of selflessness of nothing else. I urge everyone who is on the fence of how to cast their vote in November to remember three words: Country over Party.
No U.S citizen should be sitting idly by on November 5th and allowing the death of American democracy.

This was one of those times that the finished product didn’t come out quite how I wanted or pictured in my head. I was still in love with the finished look but sometimes things just don’t go how you expect. Sometimes a color can alter during rinsing or the tones of your starting canvas end up effecting the way your colors turn out. Not every day behind the chair goes perfectly but I learn something new every day and I’m grateful for a job that allows me to grow my creativity.

My page has gained some new friends so I thought I’d properly introduce myself. Hello everyone, my name is Chelsey and I am the stylist behind Area 52! I started my hair career at Paul Mitchell back in 2018 and opened up Area 52 Hair Lab in 2020.
Some fun facts about me:
🛸 My career in hair stemmed from my passion for doing SFX makeup and body painting as well as being in tech theatre and art through high school.
🛸 As a child I grew up right outside of Chicago and also lived in Northern California for several years before moving to Alabama in 2011.
🛸 I got to marry my best friend last September. We have the worlds sweetest ham of a doggo, an 8 year old pittie named Birdie. 🐶
🛸 I love talking all things cryptids, crime/mystery shows, and old slasher/horror movies. My favorite show by far is Law and Order SVU and I could talk for hours about my love for Mariska Hargitay
🛸 My favorite things to do are travel, go to concerts/live shows, try new foods(especially any Asian cuisine), play around with makeup and fashion, and hang out with my friends.
✂️ When it comes to hair I most enjoy doing vivids, lived in colors such as balayage, alternative cuts and providing gender affirming hairstyles for the LGBTQ community.

Did you know that on top of being a super rad vivids artist I also work a lot with lived in colors? Balayage is my favorite method to achieve a gorgeous lived in color like this one. It’s a great way to make a subtle difference or a major change with your hair!

🛸HAIRCUTTING SCHEDULE UPDATE🛸

Due to a recent high demand on haircutting services I’ve implemented a new haircutting schedule to better accommodate both color and cutting clients. Standalone cutting appointments are now limited to the following time frames:
Tuesdays 9am-6pm
Wednesdays 4pm-8pm
Thursdays 3pm-6pm
Fridays 9am-12pm.

This change doesn't affect appointments that include both coloring and cutting services. If your preferred date or time does not match up with these new slots feel free reach out either here through direct message or alternatively via cell phone so we work something else out together! Thankyou all for your continued support and understanding. As always I look forward to seeing you in my chair, all are welcome!

As many of my regulars know your favorite stylist will be getting a new last name in just a few short months which has required me to make some schedule adjustments to keep my sanity.
As of June 1st through mid September I will not be taking Saturday and Sunday appointments. To make up for this I’ll be coming in on Mondays and Tuesdays instead. Tuesdays and Wednesdays I will be staying till 8pm to try and accommodate my clients that typically require weekend appointments. If you already had a weekend appointment booked I will be honoring those appointments but just not taking on any new weekends.
Because of these schedule adjustments i will not be taking on any new color clients for the time being as to ensure more availability for my regulars.
I know this temporary change may not be ideal for all of my clients but I ask everyone to just bare me. I know I’ve been harder to get an appointment with and harder to get in contact over the last weeks but just know I’m trying my best to balance being your super cool stylist, a soon to be bride, a business owner, and just Chelsey. I encourage everyone to double text me as well if I don’t get back to your message within 24-48hours.
