We just finished up restoring this beautiful Victorian style antique sofa. The new fabric is Miller “Cabernet” by United Fabrics.
We brought back the original button design, and also gave it a fresh set of springs. The original straw and horsehair inside the sofa was replaced with modern foam. We revitalized the wood with Watco Danish oil in a dark walnut color.
Here are some before and after photos, as well as some “in progress photos” showing the inside of this classic sofa.

We can fix damaged and worn fabric to give your piece additional years. We will color match the fabric and replace the old with new. Here are 2 recent projects that we refreshed with new fabric: A chocolate brown vinyl bench seat (with 312 tacks put in by hand), and a green leather Stressless recliner. Both good as new now!

We gave these well loved family heirloom chairs a clean modern update, while retaining their original character. The new durable fabrics will help these chairs live another lifetime in their new homes.

The black rocking chair kept its original paint job, and got a new mushroom colored denim fabric seat and matching back cushion.
The swivel rocker was reupholstered in a canary yellow woven fabric by Charlotte fabrics. It features an eye catching quilted seat and back. We also added a brand new swivel rocker base.

Check out these before/after shots!

We’re excited to feature our newly designed ottomans that take on a more simple and classic look. Each of these ottomans are upholstered with the highest grade vinyl, some resembling leather and all share incredible wear ratings as well. We lost the welt cord and introduced the topstitch on these newbies. We all love the new look. What do you think? Available for in-store purchase.

We love furniture, but we also have a deep appreciation for the history attached to many of the pieces we’re fortunate to get to restore. This piece has ties to Andrew Turnbull, Packers president from 1923-1928. This Napoleon III crapaud chair was purchased from the Turnbull family in 1952. The current owners selected a ‘Woodland Margot’ fabric, from Charlotte Fabrics, for the primary fabric, and contrasted that with ‘Vanity, Sundance’, from United Fabrics, for the welt cording. The final touch of gold fringe at the bottom makes the chair look as if it’s almost hovering. Come see us to transform your own little piece of history!

This week we’re featuring this vintage federal style barrel back arm chair by Southwood. Upholstered with fabric from Fabricut, pattern called Bayberry, color Coral. Slightly restyled with welt cord on the inside back. A very nice transformation.

Check out this family heirloom - most likely vintage Baker Furniture Co. It's been restored and restyled with Fabricut's Caledon Green Tea (with added soil and stain finish).
This beauty will last for a very long time!

This week we’re featuring some of our favorite ottomans and pillows that we’ve made. First up are these matching ottomans, inspired by the colors, textures, and shapes of the mid-century modern design movement.

We love designing pillows or ottomans to accompany reupholstered pieces or to match the furniture you already have!

It was an honor to reupholster this chair and make a custom ottoman and pillow to match! The chair is an heirloom that has been in our client’s family for generations. It is so old that the construction style is different from modern chairs, which meant less tacking fabric to wooden frames and more hand sewing. Browse through the pictures to see the “before.” The custom pillow and ottoman are done in the same fabric as the chair, the Mayfair Vineyard line from UP&H, just the reverse side!

✨new✨ Reupholstered 8 piece dining set. Each chair has extensive detailing with decorative nails. There are 394 nails per chair, so by our math that’s 3,152 total! All individually hammered into place. We love how these details compliment the fabric from Crypton Home line. This fabric is soil resistant and easy to clean. It’s specially designed for both style and durability!

✨ Behind the scenes ✨ It’s a good thing that we work as a team here at Upholstery Arts… because it took three people to stuff the back of this chair!

✨Restored and reupholstered antique settee ✨ We are honored to have been a part of restoring this family heirloom. When we first removed the old fabric, we discovered that the piece had been repaired and reupholstered numerous times before, which had compromised the integrity of the wooden frame. We restored the wood and built the seat back up with springs, webbing, and foam. We reupholstered the settee in the luxurious beige Bruno Chenille from . The client selected a double welt cord for trim - this detail adds class to an already chic and timeless piece!

We reupholstered the seats of this charming dining set with a soft, durable vinyl. From the look and feel, it’s hard to believe it’s not leather!
