Considered a type of chip shot, a “bump and run” is a shot that has a low trajectory with more roll. It is particularly useful when your ball is near the edge of the green and you have a large part of the green to work with.

This is how we like to “lounge” around.

Sometimes, we like to make up our own golf terms here at Hook & Fade. “Hogwarts-ing the ball” is a phrase we use when someone hits the ball between the crack of the screen and the ceiling, causing it to disappear.

You can also call it “Sending the ball to Narnia,” depending on which magical series you prefer.

When you hear “lay-up,” you may think basketball, but it’s also a golf term.

In golf, a lay-up is when a golfer purposely plays a shorter shot to avoid a hazard or obstacle, minimize the risk of a penalty and make the next shot easier. While it may sound simple, lay-ups can be difficult to master, especially under pressure.

Opinion: Double-date night is always better with couples’ golf.

Fun fact: Golf hasn’t just been played here on Earth. During the Apollo 14 mission, Alan Shepard used a makeshift 6-iron to golf on the moon.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any moon courses…yet.
