I wanted to take a moment to talk about my goals for YOU as my client.
As most of you know I have a background in Counseling, and just like any good counselor, our goal is to work ourself out of a job. I want to help you to get the tools under your belt so that you know how take on different situations and set yourself up for success when it comes to your health and wellness journey.
I make it very realistic and tailored to your likes/dislikes because you should feel confident in yourself as well as your choices!
Raising kids isn’t the only thing that takes a village. Sometimes we need someone to guide us in different situations as well as be our cheerleader and accountability partner.

The weather has been so nice. Let’s talk about getting outside ☀️
I know it can be a hard balance when you’re juggling ALL THE THINGS.
But the benefits of getting outside, even for just 10 minutes, are superb!
1. Getting outside in the sun helps you sleep better - sunlight helps regulate your internal clock which can shorten the time it takes to fall asleep and improve the quality
2. Eases depression symptoms - being outside is proven to lighten moods
3. Mental restoration - we live in a very high stimulus world! Getting outside eases our brain from that constant stimulus.
4. Boosts immunity - being outside exposes you to microorganisms that can help your body learn to defend against common diseases!
Again, this goal might not always be realistic but 5-10 min a few times a week is proven to do wonders!
My favorite thing to do outside is gardening and jumping on the trampoline with my babes. 👫🏼

I realize It’s been awhile since I’ve been active on my business page. One of the things I try to teach my clients is balance, and social media can sometimes be VERY time consuming. It was taking a lot of time away from actual work, my kids, and my clients! So to practice what I preach, I’ve been less active on here, but PLEASE reach out if you have any questions or would like a consult. It’s SO HARD to put your trust in someone when it comes to the outcome of your body and the expectations you have within a journey. I’m so thankful to be able to be in this position to help clients AND friends. This girl has taken everything I’ve said to heart and has the best of both worlds!
PART 2 - A lot of people are under the impression that self-care looks like spending a lot of money on yourself. IT DOESN’T. Although ya girl does love herself a facial, self-care can take many forms. It can be a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop, locking yourself in your room with a good book, devotional time, and my personal favorite a bomb workout! Just a few of MANY examples. What are some ways you can prioritize YOU?
PART 1 - I got 99 problems but SELF-CARE AINT ONE!
Balance is a juggling act we play day in and day out. There’s always something to be done. The to-do list never seems to end. Getting the kids to school, soccer, piano practice. Making food is a full time job in itself. Plus our own careers! Don’t forget yourself in that list. Forgetting ourself leads to burn out, short tempers, depression etc. The dishes can wait, I promise they aren’t going anywhere. Because I prioritize my own self-care, I’m a better wife, a better mother and a better coach! ✌️ love • yourself
PS- part of my self care has meant that my social media takes a back burner. And that’s just fine 😉
The proof is in the pudding! We took super small and realistic baby steps to reach her goals! She now has a great relationship with food and has trusted the process. She’s still going strong! Super proud of this mama!
MEASUREMENTS • I’m definitely not one to say to measure your food forever but if you’re using the eyeball measurement, my guess is you’re probably over eating!!
If I were to eyeball what I think is tablespoon it’s actually over 2 tablespoons!
Measure some of your food! I guarantee it will be an eye opener!
Barriers are some that we anticipate and some we don’t! These little loves bring a lot of barriers that I don’t always expect! How do you set yourself up for the next time? Don’t let those things that knock you down keep you down! Learn from them! Ask yourself the hard questions on what to be prepared for for next time! Have an accountability partner. Have freezer meals on hand. Have healthier grab and go options! The possibilities are endless!
SUPPORT SYSTEM- This is Betty Ann. Betty Ann surprised me with a best friend photo shoot for my 30th birthday! Betty Ann always shares all my business posts, she always gives my information to people looking to change their habits. And even though she jokes around with me that I don’t eat like I used to. She’s proud of my progress and my business.
I say all that to say. Who are you surrounding yourself with? Do they encourage your goals? Do they make fun of the way you’re going about your health journey?
Surround yourself with those who encourage and support you! It’s so important to have a team behind you.

Take me back to Jamaican time circa 2021
- It’s around that time where I need to get beach b̶o̶d̶y̶ MIND ready! My main goal for the beach is to feel confident! That’s more of a MIND SHIFT than anything else! Just like when my physical body does push ups, my mind does mental push ups to focus in on the positives. We are our biggest critics. So my challenge for you is to come up with 3 positives/wins for every negative you think of!
9 months IN - 9 months OUT
What I’ve learned on my health journey is that our bodies are so resilient!
However, my pregnancy with my son compared to my daughters are like night and day.
The biggest change was my mind shift. When I was pregnant with my son my head was saying,”well I’m going to get big anyway. Doesn’t matter what I eat.” So I had a lot of Dairy Queen blizzards and wasn’t very mindful of my choices.
With my daughter I already had healthy habits in place. I wanted to keep them in check so that I could have more energy during my pregnancy since I had another little one to chase around. I worked out every day and still saved room for my little cravings- bread pudding 🙈
After I had Brynley the weight came off a lot faster than with Liam. Getting back to routine was much easier. It wasn’t like I was trying a whole bunch of new stuff with a new baby!
Moral of the story is! It’s never a bad time to want to gain healthy habits. What have you got to lose?
LONG TERM GOALS -I have clients from all walks of life. But I would say the majority of them are moms. One of the things we discuss in our first meeting is, “what are your long term goals.”
9/10 times I hear. “I want to be a good example to my kids.” As parents we are always thinking of our children first and how our decisions impact theirs. It’s important to remember your WHY and WHY you started your journey in the first place. But don’t lose yourself in doing it for others! You need to be able to take care of you before you can take care of those around you! Do it for you booboo!

He’s eating more AND losing inches! He’s really honing in on his strength training, and even through traveling for work he’s created a sustainable routine that works for him! I mean those muscles are poppin!

Cheers to my 20’s… today I reflect on this last decade. I feel like I lived a lifetime in just 10 years.
Graduated college, got married, got my masters, moved to Nashville, bought a house, had a beautiful baby boy, lost two babies, lost two grandparents, moved back to Mississippi into another home, had a beautiful baby girl and started my own business! And that’s just the surface. Although a part of me is scared of the next chapter, I’m embracing another decade full of challenges and adventures. Here’s to 3️⃣0️⃣
I can’t wait to see where Healing Habits lands over the next decade!
This is a super trusting and vulnerable process. I don’t deny that for one second! Super proud and THANKFUL that my clients are willing to learn as well experiment with what works best for them! The hard work is paying off! 👏🏼
On a personal note. I thought it was important to share my journey.
I struggled with my weight for years. Even in elementary school I went through a Period of time where I noticed I was little chunkier than others. And it was made known by my peers.
In the 4th grade I got diagnosed with severe ADHD, and once starting the medication the weight started to come off with my lack of appetite (unfortunately a very common symptom).
I honestly thought nothing else of my weight until I gained the freshman 15 😬. WAAAAY too much chick-Fil-a 🤦🏻♀️.
Life started happening! I got engaged, at probably the heaviest I’d ever been (glad to know he loved me for more than my looks 😜). I wanted to lose weight for my wedding, and let me tell you I don’t even eat that clean now! Instead of having some drinks with my friends on the weekend I was the DD eating salads 🙄 - I honestly don’t even think I was eating 1200 calories a day.
As soon as we got married the weight came right back. It wasn’t till later in life the light switch came on! I switched my mindset from behavior change with anxiety and depression (my therapy background) to behavior change in healthy habits!
I found freedom in food! I learned what balance really is. There’s no food I can’t have and I don’t feel deprived in anyway. Now I’m helping my clients learn those same things. ❤️
RESTRICTION - see what I’m eating in this bowl? It’s ice cream! 🍨 Yep, I said it! I’m a big fan of having your cake and eating it too…. Or ice cream rather 😉
When you keep yourself from eating the things you want or the things you love, you tend to eat a little overboard when you get the chance!
Have a small bowl of ice cream. Have a mini soda! Measure out a single serving! Plan ahead! Put things in place to set yourself for success! You got this!

I’ve been married to my husband for just shy of 8 years. We have two beautiful blessings, Liam (4) and Brynley (8 months).
I have a background in Marriage and Family therapy. I also am a board certified Health and Wellness Coach and certified Nutritionist.
Mental health and physical health are very intertwined! Some of our habits are very much mental! I love helping people make realistic goals for themselves and reaching them! It’s truly my passion!
REST & RECOVERY - I hear a lot of times clients say “I have to earn my food” or “I can’t eat very much today, I didn’t workout.” Well I’m here to tell you that rest and recovery plays just as important of a part as training does!
Your muscles need to repair, rebuild and strengthen! Taking rest days prevents over tiring your muscles and reduces injury. It also gives your body time to heal so that you can come in hard on the days you do train!
Eating around the same amount on those days will aid in muscle growth and repair!
After all, it’s all about balance right?
First week of the year over! You’re probably wondering why the number on the scale hasn’t moved. Or might even be feeling discouraged! Remember, it took time to get to that point it’s going to take time to get to your goal! Focus on the positives! Do you regret any of the healthier decisions you’ve made? How do you feel like those decisions will affect your long term goals? Don’t focus on the number on the scale! Keep going all! You’ve got this!
This is why depriving yourself is a bad idea! Man if you’re craving a soda, have a small soda! You see how they are going ham on that coke? Deprivation will lead to over compensating!
