➡️ Gesso is a flexible, pre-mixed primer you can apply to your canvas, paper, or wood panel to make the surface more receptive to paint. It's basically a slightly gritty coat of paint that sits between your canvas and paint layers, which helps keep everything together and prevents cracking over time. Golden Gesso is mega-pigmented for outstanding opacity-- You can even mix it with a smidge of acrylic paint to create a toned surface!

➡️ Sandable Hard Gesso is an excellent foundation for oil and acrylic paints. It can be sanded down to an incredibly smooth surface, perfect for capturing those tiny details in your next masterpiece.

➡️ Absorbent Ground is a permanent and flexible product that dries with a porous, paper-like surface. You can paint a few layers over a gessoed canvas or wood panel and use it as a base to create wet media effects like lifting, dry brush, wet-on-wet, and more!

❤️ Gamsol thins oils and aids in general studio clean-up. The standard for studio safety. Gamsol is reusable and nontoxic when used as recommended.

🧡 Galkyd adds transparency and gloss when used in greater proportions. Galkyd will level out your brushstrokes to create an enamel-like surface. This is Gamblin’s fastest drying medium, thin layers will be in touch dry in 24 hrs.

💛 Galkyd Slow Dry will extend working time. Use one part Galkyd Slow Dry to one part oil color in order to paint wet-into-wet for at least a day. For the longest working time, try Poppy Oil.

💚 Solvent-Free Gel adds flow and transparency while maintaining your brush marks. Solvent-Free Gel has a moderately fast drying rate and will increase gloss. Made from safflower oil and alkyd resin.

💙 Cold Wax Medium thickens your oil color and mattifies its finish. Try applying this product with a pallet knife. Cold Wax Medium can make paints more matt or be used alone as a matt varnish. Made from natural beeswax.

💜 Neo Megilp is a soft gel medium that maintains the body of oil colors, increases transparency and flow, and imparts a smooth, silky feel. Neo Megilp dries at a moderate rate, and remains workable for hours. Leaves colors with a satin gloss.

🌿🌞 Summer is finally here, and what better way to embrace these sunny days than by making memories with ! 🌳 This unique light-sensitive paper allows you to create beautiful prints using only the sun! Make your own by following these directions:

🌸 Forage for Natural Objects: Explore the great outdoors and gather leaves, flowers, feathers, crystals, and other semi-transparent materials that catch your eye. 🍃

✨ Set Up Your Space: Choose a darker room or an area with reduced UV light to arrange your objects on the Nature Print Paper. This step helps prevent premature exposure of the light-sensitive paper.

🌞 Expose to Sunlight: Let the sun work its magic! Place your Nature Print Paper and objects in direct sunlight, allowing the UV rays to react with this unique paper to create beautifully blue monochrome prints.

⏰ Time it right: Leave your prints in the sun for about 1-5 minutes, depending on the intensity of sunlight and desired effect. Remember, experimentation is key! Try not to over-expose.

🚿 Rinse and reveal: Take your piece out of direct sunlight and remove the objects. Carefully rinse your print in a water bath and witness the incredible transformation as the sun print develops before your eyes!

💡 Pro Tip: Add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to your water bath before rinsing your prints to enhance the effect. 💧💙

We had our in store indigo dying event on the 19th, and we are loving the results! A customer brought in a piece of silk to dye, and there were beautiful variations as it oxidized. We have also dyed two shirts and overdyed some handkerchiefs that were originally dyed olive green, and now they have a beautiful, earthy look. We used Indigo Tie Dye Kit. The kit makes it very easy to set up your own indigo dye vat and is enough for several projects. We have Jacquard indigo tie dye kits on sale at 10% off MSRP through July!

Tie-dye is a summertime staple! So today, we're troubleshooting some of the most common struggles in getting your tie-dye projects juuust right.👌

✨ Set yourself up for success by using a premium tie-dye set from and white, 100% cotton fabrics. If you need to use a blended material, ensure at least 70% of it is cotton for the brightest, most vivid results. 🌈

🧵 If your rubber bands keep snapping or you struggle with tension, try using lengths of string or thread to tie off your sections. This can help achieve highly detailed results and whiter separations between colors, which is especially useful when squirting complementary colors like orange 🟠 and blue 🔵 next to each other without too much mixing.

⚠️ The best way to ensure your project comes out as vivid and long-lasting as possible is to pre-soak your fabric in a soda ash solution for the time and ratio specified on your tie dye packaging. Dye Sets by Jacquard include a soda ash packet for pre-soaking—don't skip this step! Wring out the soda ash solution from your fabric as much as possible after soaking to avoid dye spreading too much where it isn't wanted. The wetter your material, the less control you have over color placement and vice versa. (Note: Soda ash soaking is not effective on synthetic fibers.)
