Aaaaaand we are home!!! We had such a blast in Valencia and Llíria playing music, meeting other percussionists, exploring the city, and premiering Michael Udow’s “12 Labors of Hercules”! Logging off for now to get over the jet lag 😵💫

The UW-Madison percussion studio is SO ready for Spain!!
We are gearing up tor the Edeta Arts Festival in Lliria, Spain next week! Our world and chamber percussion ensembles will be performing on multiple concerts and a premiere piece by Michael Udow.
The percussion studio enjoyed our last studio class, an MSO weekend featuring our grad students and professors, and a zoom meeting with Michael Udow in preparation to our trip to Spain this summer!
We had a great Symphonic Orchestra concert!!! We played The Planets (Holst), The B-Sides (Bates), and Claire de Lune (Debussy).
Congrats Graduate Percussion Group on their final performance of the year! They performed Evergreen (Honstein), Table Music (de Mey), and Threads (Lansky).

Symphony Orchestra closed out a busy cycle of concerts! Works performed were Shuying Li’s Purple Mountains (Wisconsin Premiere), Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, and Price’s First Symphony.

We LOVED hosting Caitlyn Jones for a lovely day of learning and playing! From her presentation on musician health maintenance to her constructive comments on student pieces, we learned a lot! We are very excited to release EIGHT new chamber and world percussion ensemble performance videos! This video bundle is headlined by Juri Seo’s Spoons (performed on…well….a bunch of spoons). We were very lucky to have Juri in Madison to coach the piece before the recording session!
