This year’s production of “No Turning Back” raised a record breaking $508,000 for ! Thank you to everyone who donated and thank you for supporting the Canopy Center. Every year we partner with a local nonprofit in Madison, and every year we are so happy to contribute to the life changing work that these organizations do in our community. Congratulations to for winning this year’s Humo show and to every cast for creating such entertaining and fun shows. We are so proud of everyone who helped make this the best year of Humorology yet!

Yesterday our executive board and directors got the opportunity to go and visit the Canopy Center! During our visit, we were able to see and experience the different spaces they have created to help counsel and care for the families and children that they work with. Humorology members got to learn more about the different programs the Canopy Center offers and see first-hand how they are making an amazing impact in our Madison community. As another way to give back, our casts are creating sensory boxes filled with books, drawing materials, and other goodies for various age groups at Canopy Center! Humorology is incredibly lucky to be partnered with such an amazing organization with the most kind-hearted staff and incredible mission!

UW Humorology: Benefitting Blessings In A Backpack
This year’s beneficiary is something held close to the heart’s of local Wisconsin residents. Blessings In A Backpack is a national non-profit organization that feeds school children in the United States who currently are fed during the week on the federally funded Free and Reduced Meal Program and are at risk of going hungry on the weekends.
Did you know 13 million kids in America won’t have enough food to eat this weekend? That’s one in six kids who eat meals at school during the week but are without access to affordable, nutritious food on Saturday and Sunday. The consequences are much more than a growling stomach. Hunger can cause many physical health problems. It can also shorten a child’s attention span, lower their IQ, and keep them from making good grades.
To ensure the kids in your community have full bellies over the weekend, Blessings in a Backpack sends them home on Fridays with backpacks full of satisfying and nutritious food. We envision a world where every school-aged child in America has the nourishment they need to learn and grow. Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary school children who might otherwise go hungry. This school year, we look forward to working together to provide hunger-free weekends for kids in your community!
