We never doubted it!
If bumblebees can play, does it mean they have feelings? This study suggests yes Scientists wanted to learn whether bees, like humans and other mammals, had any interest in playing for fun's sake. They say they have evidence that bees do, and that could change how we view insects.

Learn more about the local mead scene from Edible Madison! We would love for Madison to become a premiere mead destination, and are thrilled to be amongst the amazing company like Bos Mead Hall, Mershon's Cidery, Brix Cider, and Kindred Spirits Meadery.
Jessica nailed the tasting notes on our flagship mead, Bonfires & Battlecries: “Effervescent, delicate and semi-dry. Floral apple impression gives way to a honey glazed croissant character with hints of golden raisin, daisy and burnt sugar, yet the whole thing is so crisp and refreshing it is easy drinking.”
Check us out, check out our mead friends, and let’s make mead part of the stories we share!

Remember that time we outsold Coors and Miller at Syttende Mai in Stoughton? That was a thrilling feeling, being a busy mead bee in a world of beers.
But hang on to your happy pants folks because this one is chock full of love and humbling news!
If you hung out with Nottingham Nectar and Restoration Cider at the Thirsty Troll Brewfest this past week, you know we were in the company of legendary brands and incredible products. You also know we were the merry bunch who yelled “Gemstone!” and gave a kilted dancing twirl every time someone voted for us as “Best Brewery (Fermenter).”
Well, the tallies are in and we took home the prize! We can’t thank enough the 1,500+ folks who showed up and tried our sparkling session meads, the vast majority of whom had never heard of nor tried mead before. We salute your bravery in taking a risk on a scary unknown “mead” word! We are honored that you fell in love with it.
Final note, if you don’t want to believe us that our sparkling session meads are top notch, I hope you’ll believe the thousands of people who’ve given it a shot and love it. Give us a shot, let us become part of the stories you share.
It's time to announce this year's Best Brewer! Attendees voted for their favorite brewer, and this year's favorite by a long shot was Nottingham Nectar! Congratulations and thank you for joining us at our 20th Annual Thirsty Troll Brew Fest! 🍻
Alright, Saturday’s math. Take one of the most delicious ciders in the country and add the team up with the best new beverage you haven’t tried yet. Now multiply that with a huge crowd of awesome Thirsty Trolls combined with 30 other incredible breweries across the midwest.

We were stoked to sling sparkling session mead and cider to over 1000 fantastic folk, and we were humbled by the outpouring of unexpected surprise and love for our products.
The majority had never heard of or tried mead before in their lives. The majority also left with Nottingham Nectar as their new favorite alcoholic beverage. That’s huge and we feel every morsel of gratitude and excitement!
So thank you to Thirsty Troll for having us, for all the participants and sponsors that made it happen, and for the eager electricity of our sparkling session mead’s future! Skål!

While we don’t have a brick and mortar place to participate in Old Fashioned Week with the rest of Madison this year, we do have a killer Old Fashioned recipe for you to try at home! Try the Old Gods Old Fashioned and let us know what you think!
2 oz brandy
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 blood orange slice
2 Luxardo cherries
1 tsp brown sugar
Nottingham Nectar’s Hexes and Hijinx
Ice
Combine blood orange slice, cherries, brown sugar, bitters, and dash of Hexes and Hijinx in an old fashioned glass. Muddle together while avoiding smashing the orange peel to bits. Focus the muddling on the fruit and sugar. Add brandy, ice, and fill the glass with Hexes and Hijinx. Pour into a shaker and back into old fashioned glass to mix. Add cherry and orange spear to garnish!
Spotted this friendly pollinator on some Mexican sunflowers yesterday! That cheese puff looking leg sack is the corbicula ( ), or pollen basket. Pollen is collected and stored in the basket for safe transit home!

! Nook Madison is a family owned and operated restaurant, and a deep expression of who they are: adventurous, whimsical, and a little eccentric. The food is built on quality ingredients, treated respectfully and served artistically. Nook is a communal 12 seat dining room with no barriers - literally. There are no walls between the chef and the guest. The dining room is very much a part of the kitchen, giving diners an experience to embrace and remember. And they serve Nottingham Nectar!
As a company also built with adventure, whimsy, and shared experiences in mind, we look forward to getting a reservation there in the coming months.
Nothing quite like a Sagas and Serenades on a hot evening. We love still meads, but the bubbles and strawberries of Sagas offer much needed refreshment from the heat!

Gratitude post for Garth's Brew Bar and all the fantastical people I (Patrick) got to meet on Thursday night.
It was a sold out full house with a wonderful group, some new to Nottingham Nectar, some already avid fans!
When discussing the pairing, we made mention of how you can bring flavors and tastes back to memories, stories, or visuals that evoke imagination. This did not disappoint in people spending time relaxing with us, like a couple sharing how our Folklore and Fairytales paired with the Sartori Cheese BellaVitano brought back memories of the first date they went on.
Truly, thank you to all who decided to spend their Thursday with us; it was another wonderful contribution to the stories we share.
