Our annual fundraiser at the Taste of Madison is fast approaching. (This is our 3rd year) Our participation at the Taste of Madison has been a very fun and successful fundraiser the past two years and we are hoping that you can make a little time to help us out. (Last year's success helped us purchase a new mat) We need beer pourers and beer servers.
We have two shifts to fill. 1:30-5:15 pm (12 people) and 5:00-9:00 pm (9 people)

Volunteer Info Held since 1983, the Taste is MFI’s flagship event, with over 80 restaurants, 3 entertainment stages and 26 beverage stands drawing over 250,000 to the Capitol Square over Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. There is no charge for admission or entertainment.

Good afternoon,

East HS will be hosting the Bernie Kane Invite on Jan 21 and the Big 8 Conference JV (Feb 3) and Varsity (Feb 4) Tournaments this year. As you're no doubt aware, putting on events of this size takes a ton of workers and, especially in a "specialized" sport like wrestling, a ton of workers with some background in the sport.

We are looking for help, on the clocks and the books, at the score tables for each of the six mats we'll be running on each of the three days of tournaments. Ideally, we'd be able to staff 3 people per table so they can rotate and take breaks throughout the course of the tournaments - so we're looking for a lot of people!

We're reaching out today hoping you'll pass on our message to any/all that have worked wrestling meets or tournaments for you in the past - if they are at all interested and/or available for any or all of the three days we'll need workers, please ask them to contact either me, Jeneene, or our tournament manager, Kyle Luedke.

Dear La Follette Wrestling Alumni, I am writing directly to all of you to appeal for help. First all I want you all to know that this season will be my last as Head Wrestling Coach at La Follette. After this season my title will be "volunteer coach" and "at large board member" to the LYWC. Next, I want to thank all of you for helping us become a better, more competitive wrestling program both by your participation and by your commitment and help over the years. Many of you have supported us as volunteer coaches, table help at matches, helping with fundraiser, coming to matches and even just supporting us on Facebook. For that, I am forever in your debt. But... we aren't done and I am not done asking for more from all of you. It has been my goal from the outset to make La Follette a competitive wrestling program. To prove the naysayers wrong... Madison can have competitive wrestling. I have always believed and tried to pass on to all of you these values... 1) Make things better than you found them 2) Give back, give something of yourself so that those who follow will have it better than you. You all have helped me do that. Right now we are in a campaign to raise funds for a new competition wrestling mat. As you all know, MMSD does not buy things like that for us. We have had to work for everything we have. In my time we have managed to buy 3 new mats, wall mats, 3 portable scoreboard, weights and other equipment for our practice room and we now have our own practice room without basketball players. We have made things better. My current goal is to have a 4th mat to host larger tournaments in the future. And I have bigger dreams still, this is just the one for now. Welcome to our new alumni page for the La Follette Lancers Wrestling Team and the Lancer Youth Wrestling Club. I am only just beginning to put this page together. My hope with this page, is to provide a way for alumni of our programs to communicate and share with each other and to connect with our current programs and athletes. I have invited past athletes, managers and parents with whom I am Facebook friends. However, there are many others out there that all of you may connect with from time to time that you may want to share this page with. Please do.
The first thing I have done with the page is to create a photo album of TEAM photos. Next, I plan to create photo albums for each year that I have coached at La Follette. To begin, I will just add a few photos from each year. Once I have created the albums, I hope that many of you begin to share photos and add them to our albums for all to enjoy. I also plan to add team photos from each of our MSCR middle school teams and our LYWC teams. We can also add albums to each of those.
I hope to use the page to promote our high school and youth team events and encourage our alums and families to come and support us. Many of you already support us as parents of your own young wrestlers now and just occasionally as wrestling fans. For that I sincerely thank all of you.
This season, I plan to start have an "alumni night" at one of our home meets where we take a little time to recognize any and all alums who are in attendance. No embarrassment... just a quick shout out and a big thank you. I will let you all know what meet when I have our schedule finalized.
So... please join us and encourage others to do the same. Please help me make this a successful venture with your participation.
