ORBIT Homes is based in Malibu, CA. After the Woolsey fire took the homes of some of our closest friends, our team saw first hand the impact the fires had on the lives of so many community members. With many friends and neighbors fighting insurance companies and living in uncomfortable situations, we asked the inevitable question: How could we easily get people back to their land while their homes are being rebuilt?

We created seven contemporary floor plans varying from 495 sq. ft. to 2,225 sq. ft., from one bedroom to four bedroom homes: A carefully designed portfolio of main residences, ADUs and luxury park models serving fire rebuilds, new development, park communities, and additional units/guest homes.

We discovered the HUD manufactured building code after years of work in traditional stick-built construction, custom remodeling, and off grid housing projects. The HUD code was originally focused on homes with wheels that were easy to relocate; traveler wagons, surf vans, RVs, and mobile home– but we saw the potential for more.

ORBIT Homes is reimagining this unique building code, a code that allows us to construct an entire home inside a factory. With a contemporary style, high end materials, and an open concept design, our homes are attainable, produce less waste during construction, and are faster to build with less assembly time on location.
