This is a remote/work-from-home volunteer opportunity!
Who we are: Hokuto Taiko Dojo is New Hampshire's first and only school dedicated to teaching local communities in and around the Granite State the art of Japanese taiko drumming and cultural exchange.
Our mission: To provide, engage with, and support local communities throughout the state of New Hampshire, and New England with the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture through the art of "wadaiko" or, Japanese drumming, as well as other Japanese performing arts; with the intent on promoting positive images of Japanese culture and history, thereby promoting greater cross-cultural understanding of the country of Japan and its deeply-rooted heritage.
Who we are looking for: Individuals who are passionate about community-based organizations focused on education, cultural exchange, Japan, and the arts. Our organization is young and the right candidate should be excited at the prospect of helping a young start-up organization secure essential funding needed to operate and be successful.
Responsibilities:
- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
- Submit proposals to Executive Director for approval.
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area (master’s degree preferred)
- A minimum of two years experience in grant writing
- Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
- Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization
- Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
- Multitasking, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
- Working knowledge of computers
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours/week depending on needs of the organization

- Develop a fundraising action plan
- Identify, research, assess, develop and suggest fundraising opportunities and relationships
- Assists in the development of fundraising goals and soliciting funds in conjunction with Executive Director
- Maintains all vendor/donor relationships through successful/professional communication
- In conjunction with the Treasurer, keep records relating to fundraising monies
- Provide monthly updates to the Board of Directors regarding fundraising goals, duties, and events
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Relations, Non-profit Management, or equivalent required. May consider experience in-lieu of specified degree requirement
- Can communicate effectively and has good interpersonal skills
- Is well informed of all organization activities
- Is aware of the future directions and plans of the organization
- Has a good working knowledge of the constitution, rules and the duties of all office holders and subcommittees
- Is positive and enthusiastic
- Knowledge of the organizations operations, rules and policies
- Access to internet, email, web, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent/compatible

Individuals who are passionate about community-based organizations focused on education, cultural exchange, Japan, and the arts. Our organization is young and the right candidate should be excited at the prospect of helping a young start-up organization secure essential funding needed to operate and be successful.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Organizational leadership and advisement
-Organization of the board of directors, officers, and committees
-Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures
-Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget
-We are specifically seeking an individual who will be responsible for all aspects of financials management, including implementing GAAP, refining internal financial procedures, creating and analyzing financial statements, creating budgets, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws related to 501c(3) financial procedures, filings, and donations.
-Oversight of program planning and evaluation
-Personnel evaluation and staff development, when applicable
-Review of organizational and programmatic reports
-Promotion of the organization
-Fundraising and outreach
*Members of the board share these responsibilities while acting in the interest of Hokuto Taiko Dojo, INC. Each member is expected to make recommendations based on his or her experience and vantage point in the community.
Length of term: Three years, which may be renewed up to a maximum of three consecutive terms, pending approval of the board.
Experience & Qualifications
We are seeking individuals who have the following preferred experience:
-3 to 5 years of financial management experience
-2 to 4 years of advertising & marketing management experience
-2 to 4 years of fundraising experience (a background in sales a plus)
-2 to 4 years of grant writing experience, including research and management
-Master's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Finance, Organizational Development preferred.
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours/week depending on needs of the organization
