Did you know that Textile Field on Beech Street held its grand opening on September 8, 1913? The baseball field in Manchester was originally named Varick Park in 1894, then Textile Field in 1913-1922. The field was sold to the city in 1922 and renamed Manchester Athletic Field. Since 1970, it has been known as Gill Stadium.

(field prep will be taught, no experience needed. Half hour commitment before or after games depending on home/away status- multiple field prep folks needed per team)
FAQs:
🚩I want to volunteer, do I need another background check? If you volunteered this spring you do not need a new background check. You DO need a new volunteer application so we can allocate you to a team.
-If you did NOT volunteer this spring and complete requirements, you will need to complete a volunteer application via your account under volunteer opportunities and then will be emailed a background check to complete. You will also need a SafeSport certification which can be found via here: Coaching Corner
🚩 What age do I use? You use the Spring 2025 age. Whatever your player's age is by August 31, 2025. ( add 1 year to this years spring age)
🚩 When does the season run? Expected Sept 5-Oct 30
🚩Time commitment? Usually 1 practice a week and a game once a week typically on the weekend. Times of practices will be determined by the team manager. Game lengths will be consistent with spring season.
🚩 Can you change the dates of games? We do not run the program, a neighboring league does, we participate and are subject to the program administrator's schedule. We can request accommodations based on the team manager only if needed but not guaranteed. If there are game conflicts the team manager must coordinate with the opposing league to reschedule. ( contact info provided). Where possible, please use your assistant coaches to avoid rescheduling.
🚩 Uniform expectations? Same as spring, we provide a shirt and hat for the season and players provide their gray baseball pants, socks, belt. Cleats are needed on all ages 6 and up. Tball can do sneakers. Athletic cup for male players needed for all divisions 6 and up.
🚩 What minors team will my player be on? This is dependent on team manager availability as we may need to combine ages if we do not have enough staff. Ideally, we would love to have at least 3 teams.
*Minors division note- players will be placed on teams based on skill and fall season competition level offered by District 1. This may mean your player moving up or down accordingly.
*Majors/Intermediate: If your player is baseball 12 for fall, (age they were in spring plus one year) they may choose either majors or intermediate for their play level in the fall. Intermediate is advanced and plays on 50/70 fields. If your player is 13( 12 this past spring) please choose intermediate.

Our Story
We, Don and Gail York, have now retired to enable us to spend time with our growing family pictured above (photo credit: Matthew Lomanno). We are grateful for our years in business and thankful for all of you. Our retail store supplied individual athletes. Our trained staff was always ready to assist. Our team operations provided teams & leagues with uniforms & equipment. We were your complete school, team and family sport outfitters for many years and very proud of it all. Screen Printing and embroidery were also done on the premises!
Baseball, softball, soccer, track, wrestling, basketball, football, disc golf and more were some of our sports’ merchandise carried. We will will continue to be active members in our community. Our legacy continues with www.yorkathleticsmfg and the many family endeavors and businesses of the York family. Thank you!
We will periodically be publishing on our page as members of the community and to keep you updated on what is to come on our property on Lake Avenue. Stay tuned and thank you, again, for all your support and friendship and for your part in the Indian Head Athletics’ family.
