Congratulations to our newest employee of the quarter, Christina Tolly! Miss Chrissy is our lead teacher at the CCGC School and she is always going above and beyond to support her students and fellow school staff!

Chrissy initially applied to CCGC School after wanting a change of pace from public school teaching to a position in special education, and has been with us for many wonderful years since! In her own words, "I am one of the lead teachers and day to day is never the same. Every day brings something new but overall I am in the classroom with the students, teaching. I enjoy working with the students and watching them grow and learn. I appreciate the chance to be creative in my teaching and working with a great team. I received my master's in special education after working as a paraprofessional in an intensive education program and realized that I enjoyed working with students with exceptionalities more than just being in a general education classroom." Outside of the classroom, you can find Chrissy spending time with her family, going to the beach, and playing pool!

Thank you for all that you do for our students and school!!

Due to some unforeseen technical difficulties, we were a bit delayed in bringing you our 2024 kid-designed t-shirt contest winner... but we are so excited to finally announce our winner!

Our 2024 t-shirt contest winner is one of our talented school students, Neveah. Neveah is a smart, thoughtful, and caring girl who just finished up a great school year at CCGC. When designing her shirt, she was overwhelmed with all the possibilities of what to create and just began drawing different things when her teacher told her she didn’t have to make only one thing to get started. She settled on a fairytale-inspired design and began doodling her mushrooms and a scene of butterflies and bushes. When describing why she chose this design route Neveah said, β€œCause mushrooms always win!" "When I was drawing I had no idea what I was going to draw at first ... I just kept throwing ideas out there ... So I decided to go to a fairytale type of thing and I had to add a positive note so that's why I put the sign 'be kind'." It was only natural that a talented artist like Neveah with such a creative idea would win, her main hobbies include painting and drawing and when asked what her goals in life are, she said she just wants to paint and be happy.

When reflecting on her time at the CCGC school she shared, "I've learned how to handle my emotions more and use coping skills," with her favorite coping skills being painting and drawing. When asked what advice for future CCGC students she would offer, she pondered the question thoughtfully before stating, β€œI’d say just do your best!”.

We are so excited for Neveah and all the amazing things she has ahead of her and are thrilled to be able to bring her β€˜be kind’ mushroom design to life in a t-shirt that can be purchased to help support her and all the other school classrooms here at CCGC by using this link

As Pride Month comes to a close, we just wanted to take a moment to draw attention to the importance of supporting LGBTQ+ youth as it relates to mental health concerns. LGBTQ+ youth are more likely than their peers to experience depression or attempt su***de, BUT this risk is significantly lowered when a child feels support from their family, school and at least one adult in their life.

If you would like to learn more about these issues, or if they are affecting you or a loved one, please visit the resources below.

The results are in… together we raised over $30,800 at the Growing Together Gathering presented by Compass MSP!!!

Thank you again to everyone who was a part of the Gathering and to those who came out to support this great cause. It was wonderful to be able to see everyone come together to accomplish something truly amazing for the kids we all care so much about! This grand total would not be possible without the generous support of everyone involved, especially our platinum sponsor, Compass MSP, our gold sponsors, May, Bonee & Clark and M&T Bank, and our silver sponsor, Talcott Resolution.

We would also like to give a big thank you to our wonderful Gathering Committee, without their hard work, this amazing night would not have been possible, and BLDG 4 for providing a beautiful venue.

These funds will go to great use benefitting the children of CCGC by supporting children's mental health and special education services and purchasing many of the items on our wishlist!

Thank you again to our whole community for coming together to make this possible, you are amazing and we can't wait to see what we can accomplish together next!

These donations will create new and powerful opportunities for children in our care to learn, heal, and grow using the best possible resources and technology for years to come. Thanks to this support, and the support of all of our sponsors and donors, children in our community truly can grow better, together!
