The Manchester City Library shall strive to provide quality services and materials to meet the cultural, educational and informational needs of our diverse and changing community.
In Elementary Experiments anyone grades 1-6 can join us for activities and crafts with a STEAM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). This Fall we having two Elementary Experiments, one on the second Wednesday and one on the fourth Tuesday, but we are going to do the same activities both times. If you cannot come in person, pick up a craft kit (while supplies last) and check out the video on our Facebook and YouTube pages to follow along!
Our next session will be on Wednesday, September, 11, 2024 at 3:30-4:30 pm in the Winchell Room. In September we are looking at Sun Power to look at how we can both block and use the sun to bring out hidden colors! Remember to register so we can make sure we have enough supplies. Hey kids in grades 3-8! Do you like to make up stories? Our Junior Author Workshop is returning on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 3:30-4:30 pm in our auditorium, you can come write, draw, share, and/or help other participants. There will be opportunities to write stories, draw comic strips, and meet other kids. The library will supply materials and ice-breakers to get things started. You can do your own thing or use any of the ideas provided. This is writing just for the fun of it! The focus will be on stretching your imagination and providing ideas and tips on writing. We are having a special Lego Build with the Manchester Millyard Museum this Friday, August 16, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the Winchell. There are 50 kits that represent one of the many buildings in the Millyard. Children ages 3- 12 years old along with some help from parents and grandparents will be given a kit to build. Once done, Ms. Kristy from the Millyard Museum will have a map to show where that building is/was in the Millyard. This is a drop in session. For more information, please call 603-624-6550 ext. 7628. The Bookmobile next stop of the summer will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at this year's Monster Hunt along Elm Street. The Bookmobile will be set up at City Hall Plaza
from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This year, everyone will also be gathering at City Hall Plaza at 11:00 am for a kick off. Families are welcomed to join in the hunt for a clay monster and take home a free book For more information, please check out Studio 550 Art Center's website https://www.550arts.com/
Kids & Teens! If you entered any reading minutes before last Saturday, be sure to stop by the library this week to pick up your summer pins for your lanyard. Even though the weekly raffles are done for this summer, you may have earned other prizes by entering your reading minutes. You have until Friday, August 16th to collect your reading prizes. Your adventure Begins at the Library! Ramble on, Sing a Song with Steve Blunt next Tuesday, August 20, 2024 beginning at 3:00 pm. The Bookmobile next stop of the summer is tonight, Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Jewett Street School. The location has changed since the Wellness on Wheels flyer was printed. Families are welcomed. There will be bus transportation available from the original location Beech Street School as well as other schools. It is also School Registration Night. If your family is new to Manchester, this is a great opportunity to register your students, get to know what is available for families and the kids get a free book to take home. See you there.

The Downtown Summer Series, continues Wednesday, August 14th with a Free Movie Night in Veterans Memorial Park of the movie School of Rock. Screenings will begin at dusk, and concessions will be available for purchase. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and enjoy a night under the stars on 8/14 (School of Rock), and 8/21 (Honey I Shrunk the Kids - rescheduled from 7/17)).
