Test your sump pump to ensure its working properly before you realize it’s NOT working and there’s water in your basement 🥴 Below is an easy test!

1. Ensure the pump is properly plugged in.
2. Fill the sump pit with water until the float raises.
3. If the pump activates and the water level begins to lower, your pump is active. Keep an eye on it to ensure almost all of the water is removed.
4. If the water gets to the top of the pit without the pump activating, the pump is likely faulty.

A sump pump’s average life is 10 years, so keep that in mind as well.
