January is a very hard month for all restaurants, but especially for local, independent ones, and even more so for ones in college towns.

Add this absurdly cold and dangerous weather and you get a very very bad January, even by January standards.

As you plan your meals and your nights out, please, please consider skipping the chains and supporting the local joints (and the local bartenders and servers and chefs that make them special). If you’re in a position to come by for dinner, get takeout or stop by for dessert, amazing! If you can add a little oomph to you tip percentage, Awesome!
