The third and final week of shows kicks off TONIGHT with three more chances to attend! As Bina Sharif of Arts International writes:
“This is a wonderfully acted play by both Valentine and Woods, and directed to perfection by Jessica Burr. Lit very effectively in dim light by Jay Ryan, it will be with me for a long time as well. I already feel a strong desire to see it one more time.”
So rush to the theatre tonight so you can catch it again before it closes! 🙌🏼💃🏻🕺🏻
7:30 PM | 75 min run time | 247 West 30th Street
See you at the theatre!

We're throwing a post-show fête this Saturday for artists and audiences alike! Yes, it's that kind of a show...

"A quotidian initial conversation, flecked with longing and spite in Barbara Bray’s eloquent translation, evolves quickly into an intense psychological contest of wills – and won’ts.
“…an undercurrent of sexual and emotional tension drives the action. Showing the immanence of this energy is key to a play of interiority like this. Woods and Valentine succeed mightily.”

Another amazing review!! 💥 We are so grateful to Jon Sobel, Lead Editor of the Culture & Society section of BlogCritics.org for sharing his insights and experience at La Musica Deuxième. Jon writes:
“an undercurrent of sexual and emotional tension drives the action. Showing the immanence of this energy is key to a play of interiority like this. Woods and Valentine succeed mightily. Their Anne-Marie and Michele ooze the cold desperation of unfulfilled dreams.”

"I hadn’t seen a Blessed Unrest production in a few years – since well before the pandemic, I think. I’m very happy they survived that cataclysm and are continuing to produce excellent work in a city that’s becoming increasingly difficult for smaller companies to thrive in. La Musica Deuxième continues only through May 18, so get your tickets now."

Did we mention La Musica Deuxième is a steamy play about desire and passion - alienation and repulsion? You can almost say you can’t have one without the other. Or can you?
Entertain this question with us… and Marguerite Duras!

We hope you have your tickets in hand, and are looking forward to delving into the exhilarating, passionate, thrilling world of La Musica Deuxième!
Rounding out our cast for La Musica Deuxième is Taylor “TV” Valentine (HE), who excitedly shares his views about the play and the process:
“This play is a beast. On the surface it appears to be an existential treatise on a couple’s past. But deep down it’s a roller coaster of love and memory and pain and the willingness to challenge the status quo right now.”
He goes on to say:
“I’m not sure that I’ve ever been so challenged by a role before. What does it take for an actor to live authentically in a complicated destructive backstory while also activating the dynamic tension of desire in the moment, so the audience can walk that line of danger and potential transformation with us…?”
