MAC Watercolor Studio
MAC Watercolor Studio meets weekly to paint, critique and encourage one another in an effort to improve their painting skills.
One of our member, a great artist, Ginny Young, is recovering from a serious injury due to a car accident. We want to help Ginny with her medical expenses. We are selling our paintings at Thera Pie. 106 S.4th Street. Proceeds will be sent to Ginny.
Some photos from the Watercolor Workshop held in Studio this 1st week in October. Our visiting artist was Shirley Nachtrieb out of St. Charles, Missouri. Full days of learning and doing with Shirley keeping us on task yet quite interested in the subject matter & in her stories. We delved into color, masa paper, fluid acrylics, watercolor, collages, and how they can work together! Some words, phrases we'll remember: Triad, 100 paintings, process not product. 🌟🌟🌟
The first Wednesday of August 2023, we could not be in our studio due to children’s summer program held there. Gayle Doll graciously invited the group to her home. We shared food, exchanged ideas and gave each other constructive critique for our new paintings. It was a special morning for all.
On June 27, 2023, many artists from the MAC watercolor studio had a fantastic field trip to Lindsborg. They saw Sandzen’s paintings and had a great time in the Red Barn where they discovered all kinds of art.

During Studio today we learned about textures! Terry Mulhern, a long-time studio member as well as retired Art Teacher (at MHS) taught us how to work with textures & include those techniques to add to a painting OR even to totally paint with a texture tool *for example, cardboard* vs a brush for an entire work of art. Wow! This was fun & will certainly be neat to try!! 🍃💛
Last Wednesday, February 01, 2023, our MAC Watercolor Studio artists had an opportunity to learn about various techniques of transferring photos to paint surface (presented by Gayle Appel Doll) and how to take good photos for exhibition submission and how to use all kinds of photo app features on our cellphones to improve the image before painting it (presented by Chuck Marr). The learning session was very well attended. The participants gained a valuable knowledge in these areas.
Our MAC studio opens up to the public! Please drop by, learn about watercolor painting and hopefully join our group!
Everyone is welcome! You don’t need to know anything about painting, all levels welcome!!!
Researchers say time is an illusion. So why are we all obsessed with it? Even guardians of America's atomic clocks say time doesn't work the way we think it does.
Did you know MAC as open studios? Check out some of this amazing work people have been working on! MAC offers mid-day art, drawing, watercolor, clay, and open community arts studios!!
