This 50.05 carat briolette diamond was graded D-Flawless with Excellent polish and symmetry by GIA. GIA scientists also classified it as type IIa, which means it is the most chemically pure type of diamond.

The round brilliant cut is the most popular diamond cut, with other fancy shapes such as oval, cushion, emerald cut and more following close behind. It is extremely rare for such a large, high-quality diamond to be cut into a briolette shape!

This diamond was on display as part of GIA's Dreams of Diamonds exhibit, which celebrated more than 4,000 carats of diamonds on loan from seven major jewelry houses.
