This Friday, May 24th, is ! Every year on the Friday before Memorial Day, National "Don't Fry Day" aims to raise awareness about the risks of sun exposure. It is important to learn and practice proper sun safety. Unfortunately, skin cancer rates have been increasing in the United States.
Healthy skin is safe skin! Do you know how to protect yourself and the ones you love from the ultraviolet rays of the sun? Below are some tips and safe practices that may help you this summer!
1. Make Sunscreen Part of Your Daily Routine
-Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 30 or higher
-Apply 30 minutes before going outdoors
-Reapply every two hours or after sweating or swimming
2. Wear Protective Clothing
-A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
-Long-sleeved shirt and pants (make sure to wear light colors and breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics)
3. Be Smart Around the Sun
-The sun's rays are strongest between 10 AM and 4 PM; try to avoid the sun during these hours
-Seek shade from an umbrella, tree, or shade structure
-Use extra caution near water, sand, and other reflective surfaces; they can reflect the sun and cause you to burn
-Check the UV Index before going outside
Doing one of these practices is helpful; doing more is even better and will provide you with more protection against skin cancer! Make sun safety part of your everyday routine!

Whether you're starting a career or just looking for summer work, the job interview process can be stressful. Employers report that the number one skill they look for is communication. Use these three tips to help your communication skills shine during the interview!
1.) Before the Interview
Research the company. Tailor your responses to the company's needs.
Research yourself. Identify why you're the ideal candidate for the job.
Prepare for questions. Anticipate and practice with someone or search "popular job interview questions" online.
2.) During the Interview.
Encourage dialogue. Invite questions to make it a two-way conversation.
Tell stories. Frame experiences as stories with challenges, actions, and results.
Ask questions. Clarify any doubts to ensure precise answers.
3.) After the Interview.
Express gratitude. End with a thank you to show positivity.
Highlight a favorite question. Reflect enthusiasm and engagement.
Express eagerness to learn. Share what excites you about potential learning opportunities.
You don't have to master every step! Take away enough to boost your confidence for your next job interview!
Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day! The National Education Association describes the day "as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives." The celebration falls in the middle of Teacher Appreciation Week which is May 6th-10th. This is the time for teachers to get the extra credit that they deserve!
Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future; they guide, encourage, influence, inspire, and motivate our youth to work hard, overcome obstacles, and aspire to be the best versions of themselves. Business owners, artists, athletes, nurses, and even teachers themselves have had at least one teacher positively impact their lives.
Show some love and take some time to say thank you to a teacher today!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to all of our instructors and tutors at Buckeye Community School!!! We appreciate your dedication, patience, and understanding.

At BCS, we are proud to celebrate cultural diversity! May is designated as Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The month is a time to honor their culture and beliefs, and recognize their achievements and contributions as well as hardships.
Twenty million Asian Americans can trace their ancestral origins to over 20 countries in East, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. 94% of the total Asian population in the U.S. includes 19 of the largest groups: Bangladeshis, Bhutanese, Burmese, Cambodians, Chinese, Filipinos, Japanese, Hmong, Indians, Indonesians, Koreans, Laotians, Nepalese, Malaysians, Mongolians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Thai, and Vietnamese. Within each of these origin groups are unique histories, cultures, and languages.
