Happy Earth Day to the beautiful planet we call home.🌏🌱🐛🍄🌼 Did you know that participation in TPK’s mission helps build the next generation of environmental caretakers? Not only does outdoor recreation increase children and teen’s physical and mental health, cognitive development and social skills; it gives them a chance to start forming a lifelong connection with the natural world. In the words of renowned environmentalist Jane Goodall, “only if we understand, can we care, only if we care, we will help.” The camp programs we support allow for just that- experiences in the outdoors children will never forget, shaping them into more compassionate, curious and connected people. 💚

Friendly House is excited to announce that Ms. Monica Eppler has accepted the position of Hidden Hollow Camp Director and has already begun the transition into this important role for Friendly House.
Monica attended Hidden Hollow Camp as a camper, KP, and counselor. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School and worked at the Friendly House in the daycare center and for the recreation programs while attending the OSU Mansfield branch as a freshman. After graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in Family Relations and Human Development, Ms. Monica began her career working with children and families in foster care and family court settings in Florida. She soon discovered her place in education and has spent the past eighteen years teaching middle school Social Studies and most recently elementary special education. She is working on a Master’s Degree in Special Education from OSU.
When not teaching, Ms. Monica enjoys working on projects around her house, spending time with family, and boating on Lake Erie during the summers. Through the transitions of her career working with children and families, Hidden Hollow Camp has always held a special place in Ms. Monica’s heart.
Her children, nieces, and nephew have been campers and counselors at Hidden Hollow, continuing the family tradition and love fostered by her late uncle and former Friendly House Director, Bernie Dillon. With other HHC friends, Ms. Monica has played a role in continuing to give back to Hidden Hollow and Friendly House for the past six years as a member of TPK as a part of its annual Weekend of Giving.
She is excited and honored to come home to Mansfield and once again serve the children and families of Richland County.

TPK Leadership had a meeting on Sunday in Mansfield. Many items were discussed including the Camp Fire Socials, Spring Clean Up Day, Spring Planting Day and of course the 2024 WoG!
- Camp Fire Socials - these will show up as an event in the next few weeks...keep you eyes on saving your dates! These events are free and are just a social gathering at the campfire circle or the fire pit at the lodge.
- Spring Clean Up Day - It was decided to forgo this year since the WoG is before the camp season.
- Spring Planting Day - this will be scheduled in May. Watch out for an event posting.
- Social Media Campaign/Outreach - gave some great ideas to improve our outreach and hopefully gain additional members and volunteers. Watch your social media, Facebook and Instagram for additional outreach.
- 2024 WoG - the group discussed a lot about projects and will be scheduling a project walk through in April. Discussed new donation options for YOUNGER alumni and current staff - this has been updated on the event page. Please note that the 2024 WoG Event Page gets updated routinely.
