We were shocked and saddened to hear about those that died and were injured by a car driving into the patio of Park Tavern.
It is my understanding from news reports that several nurses were severely injured as they celebrated the last day for one of their colleagues. At least two people have been confirmed killed.
We have helped hundreds of nurses from Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those nurses and the families of the victims as they process through this senseless tragedy.

This week we talk about a recent meeting with a 60 year old widow and some of the challenges widowed (and divorced) single women often have with financial planning and decision making.
The brief clip below ๐ ๐๐ talks about how her current "advisor" didn't even talk about her Social Security survivor benefit.
She had no idea she could collect benefits on his earning record first, allow her own benefit to continue growing, and ultimately refile to collect her own, much larger benefit as late as age 70.
Her advisor also never talked about her pension and what that means to her retirement security๐ฒ๐
We were able to show her how she is well positioned to retire.
She had a lot of fear coming to see us...in part because of her experiences with her other advisor.
This is so often the case with single women.
I think a lot of people will benefit from watching our video this week! Let us know what you think.

Our team spent the last couple of days in Hastings for our annual retreat. We discussed the future, how we hope that looks and created an action plan to get there. But more than anything, we enjoyed each other's company! We played games, enjoyed fires while watching Eagles soar and barges go by, laughed, ate a lot and, of course, Dan fished. His efforts paid off with a 12 pound catfish caught this morning before we packed up. It is always a great opportunity to connect as a team and figure out ways to better serve our clients!
No, it's not the biggest fish I've ever caught ๐
It was definitely the most frustrating and challenging fish I ever caught!
Because it was my first time trying to fly fish...and it was a struggle!
It was chilly, wet, and I didn't have waders so lots of obstacles to casting.
Tangles, snags, and some really bad casts that didn't go where they were supposed to go ๐
No coach
No lessons
I just gave it a try!
I put myself out there...and learned some things from doing...putting in the work!
I am curious so I try different stuff.
Doesn't always work, but I always learn something.
That's the value of life experience!
That's why we built QoLa...something no one else has done.
That's why we built such a unique and innovative business model serving traditionally under-served families like .
What have you tried lately that took you completely out of your comfort zone??

Despite the Bison loss on Saturday, our team had a fun Christmas gathering at Dan and Tracy's house. Gifts were exchanged, mystery prizes were given out to those who won various games and a lot of laughter and a delicious meal made it a great night.
Happy holidays from our team to you!
Yesterday we had our annual Dorval & Chorne company smallmouth fishing event. It was cold, rainy and windy but that did not stop us from reeling in some fish! We fished from shore this year and caught about 17 fish in the matter of 1.5 hours. Kate held the title for largest fish and Ellen for the most fish this year but everyone landed something.
We ended the evening having our spouses join in as we toasted to 25 years (with a bottle of champagne Dan was gifted shortly after he started in business!) and eating a delicious meal made by Dan and Tracy!
Ellen and her family spent the last few days in Fort Worth, Texas celebrating her husband's 40th birthday. They fulfilled one of his dreams of going to a NASCAR race! It was one to remember with summer-like weather ๐ฅต! They also went to a Rangers game, saw the longhorns corralled in the historic Ft. Worth stockyards, went to the zoo and of course swimming!
Dan took advantage of $49 one way airfare to Milwaukee to take in a Nationals baseball game and explore the Milwaukee River parks. The game ended badly but there was more success with the urban fishing adventure! Milwaukee has beautiful and well maintained hiking and biking trails right in the city.
We would like to officially welcome Rachel Jongbloedt to the Dorval & Chorne team!
Rachel is a new associate advisor with our group who will be supporting John and Dan in a variety of ways while working towards earning her CFP(R) designation. Rachel lives in the south metro with her husband and two kids.
Please help us welcome to the D&C team!
Dan is officially an empty-nester. They moved Alaina in over the weekend at the University of South Carolina. Wishing Alaina a wonderful college experience! Go Gamecocks!
We are all back in the office, but we finished up our Colorado trip with another morning of work sessions, whitewater rafting down the Royal Gorge, Dan and John launched themselves off the Terror-Dactyl (a 150 foot drop at 100 mph!), took a cave tour, explored Garden of the Gods and ended our time in Colorado with a delicious meal together! It was a great time of reflection on the last 25 years and planning for the next 25 years!
