It was our first time to participate in Maplewood’ Let Them Eat Art Fair. It was undoubtedly successful and fun. We’re proud to be a part of Maplewood. It was warm out with a crowd that didn’t let the heat deter them from celebrating Bastille Day in this annual art fair.

Piacentini is not only a client but a talented artist and good human being. It was an honor to share space with her art.

We offered chair massages and tours of the treatment room and the sound enhanced table. We were one of 10 businesses who participated in a game where a participant sought out a hidden piece of cake in their businesses. It was in the theme of Bastille Day. Our winner was Mary Baumgart, who was gracious and grateful. The winners of the drawing will be contacted soon! The grand winner will be posted.

We realize that in the Midwest, most people classify massage as a luxury. And for some, it may ring true. The reality is that many people have discovered that it can be an essential part of your self care like going to the gym or seeing a chiropractor. Stress is behind the many deadly diseases. Stress shortens lifespans. Massage can reduce that stress. When someone says “I’m too busy to get a massage.” I hear, “Massage isn’t important to me.” And that’s okay. It’s difficult to do things for yourself. I can relate to that. But we make time for what is important. I’m encouraged by my monthly and bimonthly clients that walk into the treatment room and say, “I have been looking forward to this.” or the clients who leave saying “That’s just what I needed. I think I’m going to go home and get some sleep.”

It’s rewarding to do what I do. We are in need of more clients who appreciate the benefits of massage in their life. If you haven’t had a massage in a long time or ever, you should give it a try. You might even regret not coming before now. Our introductory rate is usually $15 off the standard rate. For the rest of May and all of June, we are offering a $20 discount for new clients or clients who haven’t been in the past 12 months. We promise that you will leave feeling relaxed and relieved. Feel free to book your appointment today at 314-351-3432. And check out our new website - https://ehbmassage.com/

Before I got my first massage, I thought it was something only wealthy people or athletes received. I thought it was mostly about being pampered. I didn’t know what self-care meant.

After 10 years of practicing massage, I’m a daily witness to what massage does for everyday people. I have many monthly clients that walk through our door saying, “I’ve been looking forward to this.” Often our text reminders evoke the response “I can’t wait!” And when the massage is over, it’s common for people to tell me they are ready for bed. Some even doze off during a session.

Chronic stress is linked to six leading causes of death including heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and su***de, according to the American Psychological Association.
We are honored to be part of the solution. Monthly massages are an excellent way to combat stress and reset your body. It’s one form of self care that requires no physical exertion on your part other that getting to our space and getting on the table. It lowers blood pressure, improves mood, reduces muscle tension, it triggers relaxation in the body and makes it easier to sleep. So don’t hesitate to get some well deserved relief and book today.

@@@@@~Gratitude~@@@@@

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of my loyal clients for coming to EHB and for being considerate, kind, generous people. It’s our 6th year in business and my 10th year as a massage therapist. I’ve had some clients who have been coming for massages for 9 years. I’ve developed relationships with most of my clients. When I had a disc bulge 4 years ago from right now, I couldn’t walk or even stand upright without a walker. I was helpless as Covid was spreading to our city. Some of my clients went above and beyond to bring me groceries and meds. I’ll never forget that. I continue to appreciate that many of my clients refer their friends to me. I thank anyone who has even come in for one massage and given it a try. I’ve even had the pleasure of working with entire families. Without these word of mouth connections, Essential Harmony Bodywork would not exist. Thanks again for your business, your kindness and your efforts to help this business grow.

We’re going to take a novel approach. We are asking you to ask questions about massage. This first post is directed to people who are apprehensive to trying massage. The questions we are looking for are, examples:
Does it make the therapist feel awkward to massage friends? Do massages have to make you sore for it to be a good massage? Do you have to be naked? Are messages for wealthy people only? We prefer you ask your own questions or you can borrow one of these. Ed Barr, massage therapist will then video tape the answers and will use your first name if that’s acceptable to address the questions. Fire away!

Massage or Chiropractic?

What we’ve learned in working with clients who are in need of treating an injury or are suffering chronic soreness or tightness, you can do both! For decades, massage and chiropractic treatments were in competition. In recent years, it has been determined that the two treatments very much compliment each other. When someone is trying to get over the hurdle of an injury or just wants to double team self care, we get regular feedback that using both treatments is effective. Clients who get massage before a chiropractic appointment report that the chiropractor’s job to realign the bones and joints is made easier. Muscles can hold bones in the wrong place and will guard a dysfunction. Loosening the soft tissue can allow the bones at times to move back into place with little effort by the chiropractor.

The reverse is also the case. Massage can also benefit a client who just received chiropractic treatment. The soft tissue can be sore from an adjustment. And after the skeletal system is realigned, it is easier for a massage therapist to restore the muscles to a healthier state with less effort.

In conclusion, you can use both modalities to accelerate healing or you can use both as a part of regular self care. We continue to network with local chiropractors and acupuncturists because we want to always offer a client whatever avenues that will lead to restoration and better health. We are happy to share our knowledge and experiences with our clients to help them in any way to improve health and well being. Never hesitate to ask questions. Feel free to book your appointment today.

As a massage therapist, I have been called a “healer” by some. I don’t feel comfortable with that label. I think it feeds into ego. It’s the idea perpetuated by some of my colleagues that we have “magical” power to fix problems or heal maladies. The truth is that the human body has an amazing ability to heal itself. My job is to enhance this process and remove some of the obstacles. I don’t heal. I facilitate in helping my clients ameliorate their bodies to a more relaxed and more efficient state through the manipulation of the soft tissue. If my physical work is infused with my intention, intuition or energy, that is possible and a bonus. But that doesn’t make me a healer. It just makes me a facilitator in a teamwork scenario. My client has the easy job during the massage. But they also have the responsibility of being aware of what may cause their sore shoulders, to be mindful of posture, stretching and making life choices to reduce stress if possible. I think approaching this from a perspective that “WE are doing this” vs “I am fixing you” helps us understand massage in a more accurate manner. I hope this helps you understand more about massage. I think humility is part of integrity.

A friend just posted this. It’s a great graphic showing how much our clients affect business. Running a small business is full of challenges. Please don’t cancel same day unless sick or emergency or not show at all.
This cost is spot on. It cost me way more than these numbers this past month. I’m soon going to offer clients packages of sessions that will offer a little more flexibility.
We’re just out here trying to be the best we can be for our amazing clients. And trying to make a living.
We appreciate you💗
