Thanks to everybody who came out tonight to the 8th Annual Winter Wonderland Toy Drive!
Thanks to all your generous donations to the Atlantic County Toys For Kids Program, our event was a huge success and kids in need in our area will be able to have a happier holiday.
A special note of thanks goes to Detective Erin Borrelli. She coordinates this and other events through the year, like our Trunk or Treat. Each and every year she works hard to make sure our community has safe, and fun, events to bring us all together.
TONIGHT! Please come on out for a great time that benefits kids in our area!
The Winter Wonderland Toy Drive is THIS FRIDAY on December 8th and this years’ event is going to be bigger and better than ever!
The fun kicks off at 5:30 at the ball field parking lot off of Huntington Ave. We ask all attendees to bring a new and unwrapped toy to get into the event. The toys will be distributed to LOCAL kids in need by the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program.
Inside the event we’ll have free popcorn, cookies, hot chocolate and new this year we’ll have a blow-up movie screen playing short holiday movies all night long.
The MEF and Margate Mothers Association will have free arts and crafts for the kids and the Margate Recreation Department will have a carousel bounce and “snowball arena” set up for the kids to play in.
Plenty of vendors will be on hand as well like Florida Cold Cuts, Soul Empanadas, Go Cakes, RSK Donuts, Harry and Beans Coffee, Incandescent Arts Candles, Lilli’s clothing and jewelry and more!
Our trackless train will be there to take people through the beautifully lit ball fields and we’ll have live performances from Leslie’s Dance Studio, Ventnor’s Middle School Chorus, and holiday music playing to keep spirits merry and bright!
As always, we’ll have the big man himself, Santa! He’ll be on hand with Mrs Claus to check in with the kids and get photos with Katelin Keane Photography.
Please come on out to have a great time and support the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program.
This event is an annual tradition, put on with the cooperation of the Margate, Ventnor and Longport Police and Fire Departments and their respective police and fire unions, along with the Margate City Public Works and Recreation Departments, and various local community groups all to benefit the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program. We appreciate the community support that has helped this event become a massive success for our area and, most importantly, for local kids who get to have a merrier Christmas thanks to your generous donations!
The men and women of the Margate City Police Department extend their wishes that all who celebrate have a Happy Hanukkah!
We hope that the celebrations over the next eight nights help to illuminate the darkness and bring joy and light to all!

Sergeant Fane, Officer Lieberman, Officer Rando and Officer Schall were thrilled to hang out with Sheamus and Jack Dempsey.
147 local children were paired up with police officers, fire fighters, first responders, and active military members to help them shop for the holidays. The children are nominated by local officials and community partners to get a free shopping spree at the Walmart in Mays Landing.

Leaves may fall but safety should never. Be a responsible cyclist and driver this season! 🍂🚲
Chief Hankinson along with the men and women of the Margate City Police Department extend our wishes that all have a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
We are thankful every day for the support we receive as we work to serve the community. In this time of anxiety for many in our town, rest assured we continue to work hard to make good on the trust you place in us to keep you and your families safe.
***TRAFFIC ADVISORY***
Saturday November 25th Santa and Friends are coming to town for Margate's Shop Small Extravaganza!
The event will feature a parade down the length of Ventnor Ave, from Coolidge Ave. to Essex Ave. starting at noon. During that time Ventnor Ave will be shut down to traffic while the parade is in the area.
The parade will conclude in front of Bocca, and Ventnor Ave will be closed between Essex and Douglas Aves for some time until the event clears. Please be prepared to detour around the area and use caution if you come across the parade route on Saturday.
As Thanksgiving Eve approaches we are sending out a warning to all those planning to celebrate: Don't drink and drive.
-Every year, countless lives are shattered and families torn apart by drunk driving accidents on Thanksgiving Eve.
-The consequences of getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol are devastating and far-reaching.
Make the smart choice, plan ahead, and let Thanksgiving Eve be a night of celebration, not a night of tragedy.
Give thanks, not DUIs. Celebrate responsibly with friends and family this Thanksgiving.
Our annual Winter Wonderland Toy Drive is rapidly approaching. The event, held at the Sigmund Rimm Recreation Complex off of Jerome Ave., brings all the downbeach communities together to help kids in need have the holiday they deserve.
We'll have train rides, student performances, arts and crafts, games, pictures with Santa, and much more!
Come on out on December 8th starting at 5:30 and please bring a new and unwrapped toy to help the Atlantic County Toys for Kids program!
TRAFFIC ADVISORY
This Friday and Saturday (weather permitting) crews will be doing line painting work along Atlantic Ave. between Fredericksburg and Huntington Avenues. Please use caution when traveling in the area and be aware of any changes in the traffic pattern.
It's not a race; it's a parking lot. Slow down and keep everyone safe!
MCPD is proud to commemorate this Veterans Day and honor all who have served our great country.
Many of our officers have served, and several are still serving in our nation's armed forces. Their service makes our community, and country, stronger and safer.
Staying alert and attentive on the roads is crucial to not only your safety, but everyone else’s too. Be mindful with
Margate's PBA, Local 65, is once again raising money to benefit Atlanticare's Treasure the Moment Fund by participating in "No Shave November."
Chief Hankinson has authorized members of the department to grow beards during the month of November as part of the fundraising efforts.
The Treasure the Moment Fund assists local cancer patients with their expenses, whether it be rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, nutritional food, wigs, prosthetics or any other financial burden that their cancer diagnosis has brought.
Thanks to your help, Local 65 has been the TOP fundraiser for the fund in the past few years and, with your generous support, we would like to continue that trend. Please, if you can, donate via the link below to help us, and people in our area as they fight cancer.

THE OWNER HAS BEEN LOCATED. THANK YOU!
We found this pooch enjoying the crisp fall weather all by themselves along Thurlow Ave today. They do have a chip and we are waiting for information back, but if anybody can help us get them home even faster, please give us a call at 609-822-1151.
At the November 2nd City Commission Meeting at Historic City Hall, the city was proud to honor Sergeant Christopher Taroncher and Officer Brendan Campbell for their heroic and life saving actions.
Both officers were presented with a proclamation commemorating the excellent job they did on the afternoon of September 16th. On that date, the two officers entered the ocean in full uniform to rescue two swimmers who were being pulled out by a dangerous rip current.
Chief Hankinson read a letter from Dawn Waters, recounting the efforts of the officers to save her life and the life of her 12 year old granddaughter. She described the officers as the "two angels" she and her granddaughter needed in their most desperate moments.
Congratulations to Sergeant Taroncher and Officer Campbell for this well deserved recognition!
Distracted driving is like giving the Grim Reaper a lift. Halloween doesn’t have to be scary.
Trick or Treating in Margate is Halloween night from 6pm to 8pm. Have fun and be safe!
If driving in the area during the evening, go very slow and be on the lookout for any kids near the street.
Children younger than 12 should stay with a responsible adult. Older kids should be in groups, and keep to an area that their guardians approve of.
Make sure to check your child’s costumes and make sure their vision is clear. If they can’t see clearly in the dark it could lead to accidents.
Try to stay in well-lit areas and carry a glow stick or wear some type of reflective clothing with your costume to make it easier for cars to see little ones.
Never go into the home of somebody you don’t know and trust.
Trick or Treat in Margate will be from 6pm to 8pm on Halloween, October 31st!
Remember to be safe while crossing the streets: Cross only at a corner and make sure to look BOTH ways. It's also a good idea to carry a glow stick or make sure your costume is visible so any drivers can see you as you make your way around town collecting your candy!
HAVE FUN!!
Thank you to everybody who came out last night to our Trunk or Treat event! Thanks to all our community partners who helped with the event, entertained the crowd, and everybody who set up trunks!
Thank you as well to everybody who checked out the Haunted Hallway, and helped raise money for the 8th grade class!
This afternoon Michael Berenotto, Michael Barrillo and Nicholas Carrero were sworn in by Commissioner Horn as officers in the Margate City Police Department.
Berenotto was sworn in as a full time officer and Barillo and Carrero as SLEO II officers.
All three will begin an intense 6 months of academy training at the Atlantic County Police Training Center starting Monday morning.
Congratulations and good luck!
This Friday night is both BooFest and Trunk or Treat!
Due to last weeks weather cancelation of BooFest, both events will be held at the Tighe School on Amherst Ave.
BooFest will take place in the field across from Tighe School and will start at 4PM. The Trunk or Treat will kick off at 6PM in the parking lot behind Tighe School. Officers will be on hand along Amherst Ave to help kids and families cross the street between the events.
For the Trunk or Treat, we are asking all families to bring a gently used winter coat to enter. Upon entry, kids will get tickets to redeem at each trunk and tickets to use for a chance to win some great prizes donated to the event.
New this year is a "Haunted Hallway" fundraiser! The Hallway is for kids from preschool age up to 4th grade and their guardians and will cost $5 per person. Kids at Ross School have been hard at work creating spooky artwork to show off!
All proceeds from the Haunted Hallway will go to the 8th grade class!
For those with trunks at the event, Chief Hankinson and other city officials will be judging the trunks at the conclusion of the event. Prizes will go to the top three trunks!
We hope to see everybody there!
Your time to turn may be their time to cross. Always scan for pedestrian when crossing.
Congratulations to Officer Jake Rando (center in the photograph) who, on Friday, completed his recertification as a Gracie Survival Tactics for Law Enforcement Instructor.
He was also named as the lead instructor for all of Atlantic County. In that capacity he will oversee the training of recruits in the academy and assist other agencies in training their instructors and officers.
The program trains officers in techniques to help bring physical encounters to a safe end that minimizes the risk of injury to both those we are taking into custody, and the involved officer. Officer Rando was one of the first officers in the state to gain the certification and his expanded role within the county is a sign of his dedication to ensuring officer and citizen safety.
Congratulations Officer Rando!

The Margate City Police Department extends its condolences to the men and women of the Ventnor City Police Department and the family of Retired Sergeant Brian Price.
Sergeant Price was a great cop and even better friend to many of us. He was known in the area for both his imposing presence, and his kindness.
He will be remembered fondly as we keep his loved ones in our thoughts during this difficult time.

We still need "trunks" for our Trunk or Treat event on October 27th in the Tighe School parking lot!
If you are interested in having a trunk at the event, please email us at: [email protected] and Detective Borrelli will get back to you!
Similar to playing an instrument or a sport, becoming a skilled driver requires practice. Be along for the ride as they’re learning to drive.
