We are so honored to have Kelly Marcuzzi join us as our 5th physical therapist on the team. Here are Kelly’s words about joining us:

“New things. New challenges. New email. New colleagues. New commute. New processes. New people to meet. New lives to encounter. Getting the theme? I am starting new job!

I am energized and excited and cant wait to get started at Integral Physical Therapy working for the amazing Lisa Shaw and reuniting with the awesome Jett Denton. Lisa and I have consulted with each other through the years, shared thoughts on small business, referred cases to each other and generally orbited the same small world of Physical Therapy done in small business arena focusing on 1:1 patient care.

I am so excited to be joining this wonderful group of Physical Therapists, which includes five PT’s with a huge variety of specialities. Between us, we have close to 90 years experience and specialities as wide as pelvic health, pediatrics, Teen sports, endurance athletes, general orthopedics, power lifters, cross fitters, and geriatrics. Give us a call and come check us out!”

Now, before you freak out, dry needling is not as bad as you think! Swipe to see one of our gymnasts give a testimonial about her experience with dry needling by one of our certified PTs, Jett.

Dry needling, also called trigger point dry needling, has a wide array of benefits. It is called dry because the very tiny needles are not hollow and contain no medicine. Read our blog post on dry needling for more details. A few key benefits include:

~Speed up recovery time by accelerating the body’s natural healing processes
~Get pain relief and reduce muscle tension
~Regain range of motion
~Increase blood flow and oxygen circulation
~Improve chronic pain conditions
~Improve activation and strength of the muscles immediately

If you have been questioning whether dry needling is right for you, ask your physical therapist at your next visit! All of our physical therapists at Integral Physical Therapy can use dry needling as part of a variety of treatments that can help you feel better and get back to function faster.

Introducing Ms. Beth O’Neal! We are thrilled to welcome our new practice manager and patient care coordinator into our Integral Family! We know she will make a world of a difference to our team!

A little bit about Ms. Beth:

“My family and I moved from Plano, TX to East Cobb in 2005, although I am originally from Houston. I have a degree in Nutrition from the University of Texas- Go Horns! My passion is healthy eating. I love cooking and I make  AMAZING salads.  🤗

My husband, Lee, is in telecom sales. Our 3 boys went to East Side, Dodgen, and Walton. Harrison is a Georgia Tech graduate in Computer Science, Charlie is an accounting major at Kennesaw State, and George is a junior at Walton and an aspiring Eagle Scout.

My family and I are active members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and I have been an active volunteer at school, church, and scouts. I like yoga, playing tennis and pickleball, hiking, and camping.

Fun fact- In 2021, while backpacking on a 7 day trek at Philmont Scout ranch in New Mexico, George and I met a neighborhood friend, out-of-the-blue, during the 30 minutes we were at the top of Mt. Baldy.”

💜 Exercise can include anything that gets your heart rate up, from walking to hiking to jogging to HIIT workouts. Building muscle mass through strength training also supports your cardiovascular health. If you have physical limitations or pain that affect your ability to exercise regularly come see us.
💜 Stress Management: find ways to build peace and rest into your life, whether by saying no to things, asking for help or support, or by spending time every week planning. Take mindful breaks throughout your day, & see our blog posts on breathing. Sometimes it can seem stressful to find time to exercise, but moderate exercise helps our bodies manage stress.
💜 Sleep Hygiene: include a consistent schedule, a dark & quiet room, no electronic devices, avoid caffeine & alcohol before bed, & prioritize stress management, exercise & a balanced diet! If you are struggling with this step, consider seeing a Sleep Specialist to help meet your needs! We have some great referrals for you.
💜 Balanced Diet: should include a wide variety of foods and proper proportions to fit your body’s specific needs. We have some great RD referrals for you.
💜 Hormones: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women. Optimal hormone levels are key for heart health. Women become more susceptible to cardiovascular disease at menopause. It is important to see a medical provider who can test & treat appropriately.
💜 Dysautonomia: Many people with hypermobility & post viral issues such as Post Covid Syndrome have blood pressure & heart rate fluctuations due to an issue with their autonomic nervous system. For lifelong heart health, there are physical exercises & nutritional supports among other treatments that are key. At Integral, we are specialists in the physical recovery process for people with dysautonomia.
💜 HRV: stay tuned for a post on heart rate variability. Monitoring HRV is in the infant stages in the technology & medical world, and it is likely to become mainstream in the coming years. We are excited to be able to educate our patients on how to monitor their HRV.

Is it hard to believe a pillow is magic? This one helps us sleep so well we say it is! Most of our patients that try it agree. How can that be you say? Come on in and try it! We have a trial pillow available in the clinic. Normally $160, it’s on sale for $120. Sale price good through Monday!

You might be wondering, why would you spend that much money on a pillow? Well, if you have neck pain or jaw pain or trouble sleeping, this pillow is a game changer. Lisa scoured the universe and researched all available pillows, and settled on this one. It won by a long shot.

This pillow is only available for local pick up. If you’re interested, send us a message. If you’ve tried it out during your PT visit with us, and have been on the fence about buying it, now is the time!

This is a great week to save money on products that really help you in your health and fitness journey. These are also wonderful gifts! We have a lot of experience with these products and are happy to help you if you have any questions. We do highly recommend the and products. There are offbrand products at Costco and Amazon that may also be on even steeper sales this week. With the brand names being such a great deal this week, we think it’s a no-brainer in order to get a product that we know will stand the test of time.
✅ Theragun Mini: lighter weight than some, easy to hold onto, and small enough to travel with. Great deal on Amazon today, and mine even have an additional $21 coupon to clip.
✅ Hypervolt Go: this is a fantastic size for personal use, and is the cheapest I’ve ever seen it today! Available on Amazon and Best Buy

Also check out the new Hyperice which is a personal stick on product that has heat and vibration. We tried it out this week and love it! This 13-year-old with sore back muscles gave it two thumbs up. So did Lisa, it helped those nagging calf muscles.

Hurry, they are likely to run out soon! Links in bio.
