Need for People Safety

Long Island City food vendor (most likely unlicensed) prepares chicken without gloves on the street to sell to local passersby. There’s got to be an affordable way for people to get licensed and practice food prep safety so the goods they sell cause no harm.

Not sure why this woman was cuffed but the police activity added to ever-changing scenes of questionable licensed food vendors, young kids running across the street unattended (not pictured but witnessed nonetheless), and fruit snack consumption by kids who hung out the entire day in 90+ degree heat.

Handling raw chicken without gloves and touching everything afterward indicated there may not be a license to prepare and cook on the street. The surroundings on this block are rat-infested.

My husband and I talked about this at length. We can appreciate the hustle to make money. There has to be a better and safer place for this, though I suspect the means to do this are limited.
