Original post is below.
As you may, or may not know, we at ECA have actively supported The Emmaus House for at least the past 25 years. Emmaus House is located in the Peoplestown community of Atlanta. A few years ago we were contacted and asked to provide an end of the summer literacy program meal for The Freedom School supported by Emmaus House. This being a meal of celebration and recognition for those children completing the summer reading program. The pictures attached show those who took time away from their busy day to help prepare, cook and serve this wonderful meal. I will provide a couple of pictures tomorrow (hopefully) of these wonderful students once I make sure of permission. A big thank you to everyone at ECA for your pledges that allow us to do things like this. And our volunteers for the wonderful gift of time. Remember, "It's what we do".

Volunteers Needed!
Reach is hosting a lunch for the Emmaus House Freedom School on Thursday, July 18th. We will meet at the church at 9am to carpool.
The "CDF Freedom Schools® program aims to develop strong, literate, and empowered children who may not have access to books or the appropriate environmental structure necessary to do summer reading in a six-week enrichment program.
Our program’s purpose is to close the achievement gap by improving literacy and learning for children who face poverty and lack access to the educational resources they need to succeed. The Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools program at Emmaus House is a summer program serving students who have completed kindergarten through the eighth grade. Its aim is to motivate young scholars to read, build positive attitudes towards learning, and empower them to make a difference in themselves, their families, their communities, and their world" (https://www.emmaushouseatlanta.org/cdf-freedom-school).
If you can help serve that day, please contact Cindy Lippert.
Thanks!!
