The South is the Birthplace of these top selling Soft Drinks and Snack Foods.

SOFT DRINKS:

Coca~Cola and RC COLA
Both originated in Columbus,GA.
(Coke moved to Atlanta later)

Dr Pepper was born in Waco, TX and is still headquartered in nearby Plano,TX.

Pepsi was concocted in little New Bern, NC (unfortunately now headquartered in Yankeeland New York)

Other Well Known Brands:

Grapette-Orangette Camden, AR.
Now owned by Walmart (hope they don't mess it up)

DOUBLE COLA Chattanooga,TN
A strong cola that we like on occasion.

NUGRAPE Atlanta, GA (recently bought by Kuerig-Dr Pepper and discontinued and NO, we ain't happy about it)

Big Red Waco, TX also bought by Kuerig-Dr Pepper but, still being produced.

SunDrop had its' start in Missouri and you guessed it. Now owned by Kuerig-Dr Pepper.

Mountain Dew with Origins in East Tennessee was originally a
"Mixer for Hard Liquor" It remained an Independent Company until selling all but a handful of Bottling operations to Pepsi in 1964. To date there are still a couple of Independent Mountain Dew Bottlers that Pepsi doesn't own.

Most all of these soft drinks were invented & developed by Southern Pharmacists

SNACK FOODS:

Tom's Peanuts aka Tom Huston Foods had its' beginning (like Coke & RC COLA) in Columbus, GA located across the river from Garard, AL (renamed Phenix City)
It was headquartered there until selling out some (20)+ Years ago to another Southern Competitor:

Lance Foods had its' start in Charlotte, NC and bought out Tom's before being absorbed by Snyder-Hanover which is now owned by Campbell's Soup.

Stuckey's was yet another company with a Southern Birthplace. It started as a Pecan Stand in Eastman, GA.
Once boasting several hundred locations, after being sold several times and nearly going extinct, the Granddaughter of its' founder, Stephanie Stuckey along with her business partner rescued the brand along with the iconic Pecan Logs it's known for, and has made them available in various retail locations.

GooGoo Clusters like Country Music, has its' roots & still located in Nashville, TN and is still made by the Original owners, the Standard Candy Company

Last but certainly not least, one of the most LOVED and Biggest Sellers of all these Snack Foods:

MOONPIES !
This 100+ Year Old Company was started in Downtown Chattanooga,TN as the Chattanooga Bakery Company and while it later moved its' headquarters and production facilities, it is still located in Chattanooga,TN.
