Quail Hill has provided the best in open natural settings with planned outdoor activities for over forty years. Our Day Camp program is set up to offer various activities based on several different program areas, including Pool, STEM, Nature, Pond, Games, BB & Archery, and outdoor skills. Campers are divided into groups based on their age. These groups attend different areas on a varying daily rotation. All activities are planned to ensure that they are age-appropriate. Our primary focus during Day Camp is FUN.

JOTA/JOTI (The world’s largest digital and radio Scout event promoting friendship and global citizenship)This year, Ken joined us again at Quail Hill with about 75 scouts/cubs and Troop 110 with ASM Steele from Camp Pouch Camporee with 13 scouts. Those who came to Quail Hill talked on the radio and played Morse code games. Ken and company spoke to 7 countries, the furthest being South Africa, and made about 100 contacts and seven other camps stateside. Troop 110 had a chance to operate numerous radios and communicate with various countries and states, the farthest being Islamabad in Pakistan. Scouts discussed the weather, location, favorite camping foods, recipes, eagle projects and general topics. We thank Ken and Steele and all those Scouters who joined them and those who participated from their homes. We look forward to next year.

There is still time to register for the Wilderness & Remote First Aid Training (WFA). Whether you’re already an experienced outdoors person or a newer scout leader, our Wilderness and Remote First Aid course gives you the skills you need to respond to an emergency when help may be delayed. Our Council's Health & Safety Committee uses approved Course personnel to run this training. Jamboree-on-the-Air is held the 3rd weekend in October. There are no official hours, so you have the whole weekend to make JOTA contacts. The event officially starts Friday evening during the JOTA Jump Start and runs through Sunday evening. Just three days away to Wizards & Warriors (A Webelos Woods adventure). This is the first opportunity for 4th and 5th grade Webelos and Bear Cub Scouts to learn what Scouts BSA is all about. Wizards & Warriors exposes Bears and Webelos Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA camping using the patrol method in a Scouts BSA-led outdoor adventure supervised by an adult Scout, BSA leaders in troops. www.monmouthbsa.org/WebelosWoods.

The Cornhole Tournament & Gift Basket Raffle will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Clements Gymnasium in Matawan. The tournament starts at 6 pm. The tournament is limited to 32 teams of (2). Cub Scouts is for boys and girls, kindergarten to 5th grade. Cub Scouting encourages family fun while providing youth with a safe space to make friends and challenge themselves through age-appropriate activities. Yesterday we kickoff our Healthcare Explorer Camp. Explorers visit Jersey Shore Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center on Day One. They learned about Robotic Surgery, physical therapy, pediatrics, cyberknife and more. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month (September 16-October 16) Scouting’s rich heritage has stood the test of time for more than 110 years. Together we have grown and evolved with changing times while always holding true to BSA’s core ideals and values such as kindness, integrity, respect, courtesy, and care for others.
