Used and Unusual Books A true old fashioned used book store in every sense, including the cats. We will do book searches if we don't have a title.
We have everything from century old leather bounds to current paperbacks and audiobooks. Our books are not on any computer file so we have to search the stacks if you are looking for a particular book. We do try to keep things in order so it is not an impossible task. We can usually order it . We ask for 1/2 down on out of shop orders and we can have it sent it directly to you if it is paid in full.
Joys of being a used bookseller.
Yes There can be many books by the same title. So in looking for a book, try to remember the author.

Why Kids Aren’t Falling in Love With Reading - Vigour Times These days, when I explain to a fellow parent that I write novels for children in fifth through eighth grades, I am frequently treated to an apologetic confession: “My child doesn’t read, at least not the way I did.” I know exactly how they feel—my tween and teen don’t read the way I did e...

Just letting you know what's in the forecast.
Be sure to stock up before the snow falls and the temperature drops! This is just an estimate and you may need more books depending on household size. We also have plenty of movies, take and create kits, jigsaw puzzles, magazines, experience kits and more!
Also, the library will be closed December 24 and December 25.
Some of the reasons why we have a strict credit policy.
We’re drowning in old books. But getting rid of them is heartbreaking. “They’re more like friends than objects,” one passionate bookseller says. What are we to do with our flooded shelves?
If you want to contact the shop, Please call 715 387 3040 between 10- 3pm Monday - Saturday or drop us an email at [email protected]. I don't look at Facebook daily. The most asked question is " Do you buy books and the answer is NO. We give credit you can use in the store. Please limit books you bring in for credit to one grocery size bag at a time. We will not look at any books in box. We are very limited in what we can handle physically and this rule enables us to keep running the shop. Thank you for understanding.
Caught my interest, hope you enjoy this.
Wind, Of Course, Goethe and Shame Our critic recommends old and new books.
See you on Tuesday.
Tigger has passed on. She was 19 + and had been with us for 16 years. She and her sister were our original shop cats and were loved by many of our customers. Give us a little time to adjust but I am sure we will welcoming a new cat crew to help out in the shop.
How lovely!
Wonderful ! A new bookstore in our area! Look at the great antiquarian books on his shelves. It is about 10 miles south of us on Route 10. I wish him a long run in this precarious business.
From passion to brick and mortar What started as a passion for a Neillsville man has grown into a way of life, and now, a new store just south of Marshfield.

Orphans on our doorstep. Please don't do this. We will be glad to look at books in a bag when you bring them in. ( We can't use Reader's Digest Condensed Books. Please consider donating them to a Senior center or charity.)
We will be closed Labor Day Monday September the 6th.

Although I really think our shelves are full, here is our credit policy for those who want to bring in books.
Thimbleberry Books Credit Policy 2023
We are still on shortened hours 10-3 Monday - Saturday.
Yes, we are fussy because you, our customers, are fussy. Neither of us want books in worn condition. Please limit yourself to 1 full brown grocery size bag of books for us to consider. We won't look at books in boxes. Please use a bag. As we have limited space, please don’t plan to leave the books with us.*
WE DO NOT TAKE encyclopedias, Reader’s Digest Condensed books, magazines and comic books, or any withdrawn library materials.
WE TAKE STANDARD PAPERBACKS when: The book is in great shape , clean and shiny cover, no writing on the pages. We will give up to 20 % of the cover price in store credit on books we can use.
Romance books should be published within the last 2 years - We will take older books by popular authors - for example: Nora Roberts.
General Fiction, including Westerns, Mysteries, Science Fiction, etc. and Non-Fiction in good condition are welcome regardless of age.
HARDCOVER BOOKS & TRADE PAPERBACKS (larger) It’s strange but true, most of our customers don’t buy hardcovers as they do paperbacks. That’s why store credit is less on these books. It is up to 1/2 the price we put on the book, not 20% of the printed cover price. Newer HCs must have dust jackets.
CHILDREN’S BOOKS - Condition is everything with children’s books too! We will take books with names written neatly inside but no scribbles. Store credit will vary with age and popularity.
AUDIOBOOKS - We only take books on CD. They must be in their original box. Credit is 1/2 what we price the box.
OUR PRICES AND WHAT STORE CREDIT BUYS - All regular paperbacks are priced at 50% of the cover price (minimum $2) and the others are priced inside on the upper right corner.
WE EXCHANGE CATEGORY FOR CATEGORY
The 4 categories are Romance, Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Audiobooks. Each credit slip explains what it buys. In store credit is applied directly to our already discounted prices.
In Store Credit Can Not be used on SPECIAL ORDERS & OUT OF STORE PURCHASES - We will search world-wide for books you want but we can not use credit to purchase them. NEW AND MARKED COLLECTIBLE BOOKS are not available for purchase with credit alone.
Thank you for shopping here and understanding that we are limited in what we can handle in order for us to stay in business.
*unclaimed books are donated to the library
