Why do massage therapists always tell you to drink water after a session?? 🤔
Beside the fact that it's important to stay hydrated in general, there are multiple reasons to drink water after a massage. The main one being: to eliminate toxins. You may have heard that we've released toxins in your body, but that's not very descriptive...
When we're breaking up knots, adhesions, moving tissue, and even performing longer strokes that are simply relaxing, we're literally moving fluid all around your body. Stress is being released from physical tissues, knots are breaking up, and anything that was "stuck" in those tissues is coming out.
Your body rids itself of these toxins and stress through your lymph, which is made up of the fluids from your organs and other tissues. Your lymph actually neutralizes these toxins and removes harmful particles from your body, before returning the fluids to your body.
So imagine if you aren't hydrated. Your lymph can't process properly. Which means all that nasty stuff that's floating around just gets redeposited all over your body. At best, you'll feel "icky" after this and lose a lot of the benefits of your massage.
So as I always say, stay hydrated, beloved. Especially after your treatment!
Surprise, your calves are tight! It's amazing how many people are shocked at just how much tension they hold in their calves, and don't realize it until they're on the table and I'm elbows deep in the muscles.
Your lower leg takes a beating every time you step, it carries weight when you stand, and it's directly connected to your foot, so if one is hurting, you can bet the other is too.
I love doing deep tissue techniques here to break up adhesions and get more mobility back in the ankles. But not everyone enjoys that because, well, it can hurt! 😵💫 So I approach each client as they need. Some just want a bit of relief. Some want me to really get in there. Either way, they leave feeling less fatigued, less sore, and don't switch from leg to leg while standing anymore.
Do you feet hurt? Your calves probably need some work.
And stay hydrated, beloved ❤️

It's cold. Like, really cold. I'm thinking of adding heat therapy to my menu. What do you think? Winter special?
My view as I wait for my clients to arrive. Five appointments today, 4 new clients, 1 down and already rebooked, what a beautiful Thursday! Thankful, happy, enjoying this momentum! ❤️
I don't know what it is (resolutions, referrals, consistency), but so far in 2023 my client load has about doubled! Which is huge, especially for a massage therapist in January. So I just wanted to say a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to every single client, past present and future, everyone who congratulated me on pursuing this career, everyone who referred a friend or family member, shared a post, liked, commented, secretly sung my praises when I didn't even know it... Y'all are the real MVPs and I'm filled with gratitude! Next goal: double it again!! Keep the appointments flowing.
It's about 3am, and I'm awake. I've neglected this body recently by working more and getting less self care. I need a massage. It's incredible, once you see the benefits for yourself, it's difficult to go back to the way things were before.
This year is the year of self care. In the morning, I'll be making an appointment. Looking forward to better sleep in 2023 ❤️
All 3 of my clients today were new. Two of them were full grown adults who had NEVER had a massage before! It's such a wonderful privilege to be able to introduce someone to this healing art. It's as if I get to usher them into a new life in which they feel better than they ever have. Both left smiling, after discovering things about their bodies that were hiding just below the surface. Areas of trauma, stress, and pain, from which they found relief, on my table.
I have yet to feel like I'm going to work when I go to work. I feel like I get to discover and play.
So to my newest clients, and my future new clients, I want to say WELCOME to your new life, your new awareness, your new peace!

She said "Wow, I take care of others all day and preach self care, and I've been neglecting myself! You found spots I didn't even know I had!" And the next day, "I slept so good last night!" People, 2023 is the year of self care. Let's get to it. Get. A. Massage. Make it a non-negotiable in your life. If this powerful, dynamic, intelligent woman could feel all that in just TEN MINUTES in my CHAIR, can you imagine what could happen with an hour on my table?

What does Mosaic mean? Why is that the name I chose?
The concept of a Mosaic has always intrigued me. It's a bunch of broken pieces coming together to create beautiful art. Sometimes, the way we look at our lives is as if they are a collection of broken moments. A collection of things that have happened to us, scarred us, changed us. A collection of traumas, failures, and pain.
And still, we can also look at our lives as a masterpiece, a lot of broken pieces arranged in a way that can be admired and loved. All that brokenness, coming together to create something beautiful.
So many of us feel like we've been running through life collecting scars. And I'm here to say, your scars are part of a greater picture that's gorgeous and intentionally made.
We could look at life as a bunch of broken pieces, or we could look at life like a Mosaic, something beautiful from brokenness.
I choose the latter. I choose the Mosaic.

Love yourselves ❤️
Let's talk *resolutions*
Do you make them? Do you keep them? Do you believe in them? How about just commitments to yourself? Do they include self care?
2023 is upon us, and it's time for renewal. Renewal of self, of environment, of lifestyle. It's time to look at what's working well, and what can be improved upon. It's time for reflection and growth. It's time to be powerful and dedicated. It's time to be kind to ourselves.
In 2023, congratulate yourself for what you've done, for who you are, for your capabilities. Celebrate your wins. Drink plenty of water, get more massages, introduce more rituals into your life, breathe deeply, and listen to your thoughts. They are your friends.
Stay hydrated, beloveds.
I don't know about you all, but I'm loving the after effects of the holidays. It's almost a chance to look at everything in a new light. New things, new experiences... And of course, new aches and pains to remind us of all the work we did over the last few weeks 😁
Something I've been thinking about a lot is triggers, and subsequently, trigger points on the body. Ever had that feeling that something hurts but you just HAVE to put pressure on it because it feels so good? You're not crazy, it's an overly active point in the body that needs tension and attention to release.
Common points are below the skull, in the shoulders, and low back. There are tons more but those are the easiest to find and sometimes the most active. Other places I find them often is hamstrings, glutes, and feet.
Luckily, we can work on these together. With your feedback and my adjustments, we can get these points to relax, and get you feeling brand new.
Happy holidays everyone, remember to care for yourself, and come catch these hands!
Enjoy your holiday everyone!!

We all carry something. It's ok to put it down sometimes.
One of my goals in massage is to become a glute specialist. Hear me out...
Nine times out of ten, when you say "my lower back hurts" it's tension in your glutes. When you experience discomfort standing and sitting, it's your glutes. When you're fatigued from basic activities... You see where I'm going with this...
There are plenty of non-invasive ways to decrease the tension and relieve your pain, giving you increased mobility, relief, and more energy!
Since it can be a sensitive or taboo area, many massage therapists and clients tend to skip right over this extremely important area of the body.
Specifically for women: our center of gravity is in our hips. They take all the pressure from the ground and from everything we carry. If we aren't getting to root of the tension, we can't fix it. In addition, many of us have unaddressed trauma from pregnancy and childbirth that we may not even know is there.
Remember to care for this often neglected area of our bodies. It's so important to overall health and wellbeing.
