If you happen to be sitting in your car eating at a fast food place because the dining room is closed and see a truck driver walk to the door and walk away please ask them if you can drive thru for their meal. Since walk up isn’t allowed at the drive thru they have no way to get their meal. There is no way they are getting a semi truck in the drive thru! We owe them that much!

Happy Valentines Day!! Look what is heading out our door today. It’s’ the season of love and yummy goodies.

I remember going here with my grandparents back in the day. I am happy to see Charlotte save and re-purpose landmark buildings.. not always the case. This is happening big time on Thrift road off of Freedom Dr,. Just like Jim Noble who re-purposed a former transportation/trucking terminal that my dad worked at his whole life at the corner of Berryhill and Freedom - which is now Smoke. Be sure to check them out. Great authentic barbeque! And further down Berryhill rd in the former Coors/Cunningham Wholesale beer warehouse is by holly Catering that I am a part of... Anyway, anxious to see all of the new development in "The West End" continue to evolve...

This will soon be getting a new face lift on Wilkinson Blvd. and will be re purposed into new office space.

It was a pilgrimage for me..... seeing Julia Child’s kitchen was just perfect, actually emotional for me. I have loved her since I was 3...my mom thinks that it’s Julia that made me want to be a chef (it was really my mom).

Fiddlehead ferns are a chef’s harbinger of spring. One of the first local produce items to ‘pop up’ after the winter cold. You can forage them yourself, or find them at a quality local farm stand. (Jacques frequents Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford, CT.) Be sure to pick ferns with tightly wound heads. Blanch in boiling water for about 1 minute, then sauté with garlic and butter, or minced ginger, soy sauce, black vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Happy Cooking!
