Science comes to life at Covenant Day! š§¬ At the high school level, our four advanced science labs and makerspace provide students with spaces that facilitate hands-on learning experiences that go beyond the ordinary. High school students view the microscopic world with high-powered microscopes, grow bacteria in incubators, manipulate DNA to make bacteria glow, and track enzyme reactions with spectrophotometers. These unique opportunities ignite a passion for learning and exploring Godās creation!

These robots might have gears, but these students have the brainsāand the heart to make them go! During Create Jr. today, our 6th graders took on the challenge of programming robots to navigate through a LEGO town they designedāusing distance sensors and bumper switches to guide the way. A hands-on lesson in problem-solving and creativity!

Students, faculty, and families gathered for a special Veterans Day assembly this morning. Our guest speakerāboard member, CDS dad, and Air Force veteran Josh Grissomāleft the CDS community with two important charges: to honor and thank veterans who have defended our Constitution and freedoms and to live a life of service to God and neighbor wherever we are called. Today, we express our deepest gratitude to the veterans who have courageously served our country.šŗšø
Our 8th-grade history students set off on an Egyptian excursion cruising up the Nile River š, led by Ohio Broadus, aka Mr. Broadus. They dove into the fascinating world of ancient Egyptian culture, history, and daily lifeāuncovering the mysteries of this incredible civilization. šŗāØ

Covenant Day offers Mock Trial for high school students, which gives hands-on experience with the legal process. Students research the facts of cases, develop arguments, practice public speaking, and learn to think on their feet as they respond to objections or questions.

Campus was bursting with pumpkin š fun today! First graders cracked the case of the missing pie, counted by tens with pumpkin seeds, and built their very own pumpkin boats. Meanwhile, high schoolers got in on the action, enjoying pie and launching pumpkins during community time. š
Itās been more than one week since Giving Day, and we couldnāt be more grateful! We raised over $330,000, with over 347 families participating. Our community is SO generous! Watch this video to hear a special message from Mark Helmer, head of school.

Meet HS Bible teacher Jason Haas! Jason has a rich and varied career experience. He has a background in wilderness ministry and holds a BS in Outdoor Education from Montreat College. After earning a Master of Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, he served as a pastor for 14 years before entering the restaurant business, where he currently owns the White Duck Taco Shop in Matthews. When heās not serving up tacos, he enjoys teaching scripture in the classroom.
Jason and his wife, Anna, have four kids and stay very busy with soccer games. When asked what he likes to do in his free time, he said, āFreetime? What is that? If I did have some free time, I would go mountain biking in the mountains with family or friends.ā
FUN FACT: Jasonās dad was in the Air Force and was raised in Germany, Turkey, and California. He came to the States when he was 12.
