Here are some highlights from this year's festival! How has it already been a week since we wrapped?!

We would like to extend an extra special thank you to our friends at Metro Diner for donating multiple meals throughout the weekend! They helped keep our bellies full and our bodies fueled.

And guess what?!
Metro Diner is hosting a Block Party on September 21 and you're invited!

****ATTENTION****

The incoming storm is is expected hit between 7PM and 8PM. BlueMonday is going on stage momentarily until the rain comes. It is our goal to wait out the storm until it passes *hopefully* somewhat quickly.

Don’t worry we’re not going anywhere! Don Jovi is still scheduled to hit the main stage at 8:30PM.

Anyone needing shelter can go to the Matthews Community Center.

THE FUN BEGINS TODAY!

At 4pm today, Matthews Alive 2024 officially kicks off with All-You-Can-Ride Wristband Night at the Carnival! All sponsor exhibits, inflatables, and food vendors will open at 6pm.

*Please exercise caution as vendors will still be loading into the festival footprint during 4pm opening.*

The Randy Clay Band will start the party on the lawn at the Catawba Two Kings Casino Main Stage at 6:30pm, followed by our Friday night headliner, too MUCH SyLviA at 8:30pm.

Where Is It Wednesday ❓ ❔

Today is the last Wednesday before the festival, and we're going to provide one last piece of information that we think you'll want & need to know before the big weekend.

Need some cash? Buying tickets to the carnival and/or inflatables?
We have placed three ticket booths and two ATMs throughout the main area of the festival footprint!
- Ticket booths will be located within the carnival area at the entrance of Stumptown, behind the Masonic Lodge, and at the intersection of McDowell & South Trade.
- ATMs will be located at the entrance of Stumptown Park and at the intersection of McDowell & South Trade.

*Exact locations may change, however this will be the general area.

2 DAYS TO GO!

Only 2 days. It's hard to believe!!

The air temperature is expected to be in the high 80s to low 90s this weekend, which means the surface temperature of the pavement can range from around 100 degrees on a cloudy day, up to 140 degrees in full sun.

With that being said, we kindly ask that you make arrangements to leave your furry friends in the comfort of your home this weekend. We love dogs and we love knowing they're staying safe out of the heat and out of the crowds. 🐾

For our final TUNES-Day 🎶 , we are highlighting one of the headlining acts performing inside of the Matthews Community Center!

Groove Masters will be bringing smooth jazz to the Fullwood Theater on Friday, August 31!

The forecast for this weekend is looking fantastic so far, but we still wanted to remind everyone of our weather policy.

All events are rain or shine. Should a system move through our area, we will make day-of pauses or cancellations for severe weather in coordination with local emergency management agencies.

6 DAYS TO GO!

We're officially less than one week away from kicking off this year's festivities! Not only are we filling Stumptown Park, South Trade Street & McDowell Street with attractions and vendors, our friends with Town of Matthews Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resource Department will host a number of cool exhibitors inside of the Matthews Community Center and McDowell Arts Center!

Take a break in the air conditioning to view displays by the Sweet Union Quilters Guild, Charlotte Woodworkers, Charlotte Woodcarvers Club, Dream Weavers Basket Guild, Piedmont Fiber Guild, Infinite Turtles Robotics, and Matthews Artists Guild!

The Community Center will also host a number of smooth Jazz performers inside of the Fullwood Theatre. Be sure to stop by to take a look & listen!

7 DAYS TO GO!

At this time next week, all of our small shop vendors will be preparing to load into the festival footprint. Get a head start on your holiday shopping and visit our many small shop vendors along McDowell Street & South Trade Street!

In just 8 short days, Matthews Alive will kick off with the return of Early Carnival Admission & All-You-Can-Ride Wristband Night!

In an effort to ease the crowds, if possible, the Carnival (only) will open at 4pm on Friday, August 30! All-you-can-ride wristbands will be sold for $25 and are good for Friday night only. Tickets will also be sold. Get some rides in before dinnertime!

**Please be cautious and courteous when approaching the carnival area from 4pm-6pm, as vendors will still be moving in!**

Where Is It Wednesday ❓ ❔

Every Wednesday from now until the festival, we're going to provide information on some topics that we think you'll want & need to know before the big weekend.

If I have an emergency during the festival, where can I find help?

Should you find yourself in a situation where you need medical attention or assistance from law enforcement, Matthews Police Department and Matthews Fire & EMS will be on site for the entirety of the festival. They will be stationed at the corner of Sadie Drive and South Trade Street, next to First Baptist Church.

9 DAYS TO GO!

Don't forget, the Matthews Alive Labor Day parade will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, August 31! Get to the parade route early and set up a chair to claim a shady spot. 😎

In case you missed it, our hometown Olympian, Cierra Burdick, will be kicking off this year's parade as Grand Marshal!

In 10 days, over 1,000 volunteers from local area non-profit organizations will spend their Labor Day weekend with us operating game booths, running drink trailers, collecting trash, and helping assemble the parade. We could not make this magic happen without any of them!
