Tyler Ross Jones Santa House open Friday-Sunday 4-8pm for a visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause

December 13-16 Douglas Hart Nature Center Winter Wonderland Walk, 5-7pm each evening.
Take a stroll through 25+ lighted stations on a quarter mile of trail at the Douglas-Hart Nature Center. Enjoy classic scenes like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or fan favorites like Frozen or Elf. Take family photos or selfies. Plus enjoy hot cocoa and more. Cost: Donate what works for your family's budget. DHNC relies on donations to support education and conservation efforts across all three of their properties and everything is appreciated.

December 7 Holiday Open House Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Illinois, 4-6pm
Join the CAC of East Central Illinois staff and board for an Open House at their main office in Charleston. This is a chance for the public to visit the Center and learn more about our program. The office relocated during the pandemic, and they look forward to showing off their new and improved location. Refreshments and beverages will be available. 119 West State Street in Charleston.

December 8 Five Mile Train at the Mattoon Moose
7-10pm enjoy music and dancing at the Mattoon Moose Lodge and Banquet Hall.

December 9 AYCE Pancake Breakfast at the Mattoon Moose to benefit CASA
All You Can Eat pancake and sausage breakfast benefiting CASA of East Central Illinois. Tickets are $7 age 12 and up, $4 children under age 12. Tickets can be purchased at the CASA office, by messaging the office through the CASA website or at the door the day of the event.

December 9 Woodrow Live at Warren James Winery 6-9pm

November 16 Lightworks walk thru 5-7pm
One of the best nights of the year is finally here. The Mattoon Lightworks Annual Walk Thru is 5-7pm this Thursday November 16th. Admission is free, donations accepted. Food trucks will be on hand with all your faves. Weatherman is predicting a beautiful evening, don't miss it.

November 17 Lightworks open for cars only till December 26
Pack up the family and friends for some holiday traditions. Lightworks is officially open this Friday November 17th 5pm in Peterson Park. As in years past admission is free, donations are appreciated. Be on the lookout for the new displays and let us know your favorite. Open Sunday- Thursday 5-9pm and Friday and Saturday till 10pm. Mattoon Lightworks is located at 500 Broadway Ave. in Mattoon.

November 17-19 Cross County Mall Christmas Craft Show
Shopping doors are "open" 10-8pm Friday and Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday November 19th at the Cross County Mall Christmas Craft Show. Make your plans now.

November 23 Mattoon YMCA Bare Bones Turkey Trot
Register for this non competitive family friendly run that includes running in Peterson Park to enjoy Lightworks at dawn, 6am. (Cool huh!!) Be the coolest person at your Thanksgiving table and sign up today. www.mattoonymca.org

November 25-26 Mattoon Arts Council Holiday Artisan Market
The Mattoon Arts Council is proud to return to the Cross County Mall again this year for the Holiday Artisan Market. 40+ local handmade artisans will be displaying and selling their goods from 10-4pm Saturday the 25th and noon-5pm on the 26th. The Cross County Mall is located at 750 Broadway Ave. East in Mattoon.

November 10-13 Sarah Bush Lincoln Holiday Festival Online Auction with Gala November 11.

Support of the 2023 Holiday Festival will help provide emergent needs for uninsured, resources for providers to use in therapy, assist in funding school assemblies to address the increasing mental health and substance abuse crises facing our youth, and more. November 2 CASA 16th Annual Band Together for Kids
Raise funds for CASA, Citizens Against Child Abuse, at the Annual Band Together for Kids this Thursday November 2nd from 5-8pm at the Charleston VFW. Event includes barbeque, concert with Motherlode and Moondogs and silent auction. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 3-10, 2 and under FREE.

November 4 3rd Annual 5k & Walk(for Coffee) benefitting CASA of East Central IL
Join the 3rd Annual 5K Run and Walk for Coffee. Pre-register to receive a t-shirt. This event is a chip timed race. All participants receive a finisher medal, race t-shirt, Starbucks coffee and other refreshments. November 5 Cops for Kids Fundraiser at Jackpot Joes, 2-6pm
Help the local police department bring joy with toys to area children. Join for live music by Londyn Fultz, raffles, auctions and more. *Cops for Kids is made possible each year by fundraising, and through donations from the community. Monetary donations can be dropped off, care of Mattoon Cops for Kids, at the police station. Jackpot Joes is located at 1919 Western Ave., in Mattoon.

November 7 Chamber Community Update Breakfast, 7:30am
Mattoon and Charleston Chambers of Commerce present the Chamber Community Update Breakfast at Unique Suites in Charleston, featuring speaker Sarah Bush Lincoln President & CEO Kim Uphoff. October 26 Mattoon Library Book Buzz: Literary Meet UP, 5:15-6:30
Find a sanctuary for your reading life at the Mattoon Public Library. This is meant to be an informal discussion with no pressure or time restrictions. Even if you did not read the book, feel free to join us, but beware of spoilers! Join library staff member, Lou Ann Shoultz on the third Thursday of each month, where she recommends popular reads, and we all talk about the monthly selection. The library has extra copies of the book available for check-out right now.

October 27 Celebrate Downtown Mattoon Trunk or Treat

What is your pet going to be for Halloween this year? Bring your pet to Rural King at the Cross County Mall to compete and show off a bit. Contest is from 2-4pm and there will be judging in the following categories: creative, funniest, cutest and scariest. Good luck.

October 28 Mattoon YMCA Ghouls in the Pool
The Mattoon YMCA welcomes swimmers from around Central Illinois for the annual Ghouls in the Pool. For more information call the Mattoon YMCA at 217-234-9494.
