Credit can be confusing if you don’t take the time to educate yourself. The amount of credit you use makes a difference to your credit score. Try to keep your utilization below 30%. If your card has a limit of $1,000, try not to use more than $300.

Protect your credit and do not let anyone run it without your permission. If you do agree for someone to run your credit, make sure they aren’t pulling it multiple times. This will help you keep your inquiries down.

As simple as this sounds, paying your bills on time ensure you don’t have any derogatory marks against your credit. Having derogatory marks can drastically impact your score.

Having unused credit cards aren’t necessarily a bad thing. This will help you keep your overall utilization percentage down, so keep those unused credit cards from Home Depot & Rooms To Go. Closing these account could also make an impact on your score depending on the age of these accounts.

Download Experian or something you can keep track of your score. The goal is to keep track of your progress and to make sure you’re reviewing new accounts opened under your credit profile.
