June is National Safety month, where families are encouraged to make their homes as safe as possible for everyone who lives there. This includes medications too! Keep all medications locked up or out of reach of young children.
Many people who identify as LGBTQI+ experience mental health struggles, usually because of the discrimination and violence the community experiences. The bisexual and transgender communities and younger members of the LGBTQI+ community report higher rates of mental health distress. Use this time during Pride Month to find ways to support your family and friends who identify as LGBTQI+.
Studies show that while men experience mental health problems at similar rates as women, they are less likely to seek help. If you are experiencing mental health distress, ask for support from friends and family. Some issues are more serious and may require assistance from a professional.
June is designated as Pride Month, but our commitment to ensuring LGBTQI+ people receive equitable access to prevention services and information is year round. We choose and celebrate love every day
Mental health statistics can look different depending on where you are in the state. Many regions in the state are showing high levels of serious psychological distress.
