One of the greatest things about working at the Maysville Fire Department is the growth of your family within the department. Working long shifts, training for the worst possible outcomes, and depending on each other for our own safety creates a strong bond between the members of this department. As many of you have already heard, Chief Kevin Doyle was in an accident yesterday working on a resident in Mason County. The Maysville Fire Department responded to the call along with Washington VFD and the Mason County Sheriff’s office.

When we train for emergency calls, we always train for the worst-case scenario and how to overcome those issues. We always state, “imagine if it’s your family member in this situation, what can we do to save them.” This statement hits harder after yesterday’s accident. The crews that responded yesterday stepped up and took the challenge when it was a family member in the situation. We had multiple off-duty staff members respond to the scene and to the station to cover during this incident. The on-duty crews that arrived on scene first went above and beyond to have the best possible outcome of a bad accident. We are truly blessed that the City of Maysville and Mason County has local responders that reside in the area and respond when needed on or off duty.

The MFD and the Doyle Family would like to thank everyone who has reached out about Chief Doyle and offered help in anyways. The love and compassion in this community is second to none. A special thanks goes to all the responders that responded yesterday. The hard work, dedication, and love you put into your career does not go unnoticed.

We ask you to keep Chief Kevin Doyle and his family in your prayers. We will try to keep the public informed but will respect the wishes of the family.

We had 1lb of fish left out of 200lbs! Your continued patronage to our events ensures the department is able to sustain equipment, fuel, electric, heat, and many other expenses it takes to run and function!

Keep on the lookout for our next event in the end of March!
