[2:45pm Monday, 6/17/24] Seven day projected rainfall for the watershed (light white shading) suggests 4 to 5 inches of rain over portions of the watershed in northeast Mexico. With our lakes at all-time record lows, this rain is coming at a crucial time for our water supply. This won't be enough rain to completely fill Falcon and/or Amistad, but it should provide a nice bump up over the next couple of weeks.

Please follow these tips to keep warm!

Set your heat to at least 68°F. Even mildly cool homes with temperatures from 60 to 65°F can lead to hypothermia in older adults.

Place a rolled towel in front of doors to keep out drafts.
Keep your blinds and curtains closed, and if you have gaps around the windows, try using weather stripping or caulk to keep the cold air out.

Dress warmly on cold days, even if you are staying inside. Wear socks and slippers and make use of throw blankets.

When you go to sleep, use extra covers. Wear long underwear under your pajamas and consider wearing a head covering.

Make sure you eat enough food to maintain your weight — some body fat is necessary for staying warm.

Ask someone to check on you during cold weather. If a power outage leaves you without heat, try to stay with a relative or friend.

The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is excited to announce we will be having our annual drive-thru Thanksgiving food distribution this Wednesday, November 15 from 4-7 p.m. at our headquarters in Pharr! 🦃🍂


⏰ Line Starts: Nov. 15 - 2:00 PM No Loitering
Distribution: 4:00 – 7:00 PM or while supplies last
📍Location: Food Bank RGV – 724 N. Cage Blvd. Pharr, TX 78577

We will be serving 1,000 families on a first come, first serve basis. Residents from all cities are welcome, just make sure to bring ID and proof of address. No more than 2 families per vehicle, Car trunk must be empty. Please see the flyer for the full list of guidelines.

If you are unable to attend, the Food Bank RGV has 275 Partner agencies across the valley ready to provide emergency food assistance. Call 956-682-8101 and press option 2 to be referred to a partner agency near you.
