During today’s early release day, Academy teachers participated in ongoing professional development and were recognized for their outstanding contributions, for the month of October. Additionally, the staff engaged in teambuilding activities and appreciated the special refreshments provided courtesy of our PTO—thank you!

Our early release day featured a multitude of enjoyable experiences, innovative adventures, and a special author visit. Noted RGV Native, Iona Cordero, accomplished author and illustrator, conducted an interactive read-aloud for Kinder-5th grade students, enhancing their knowledge of fire safety and prevention as well as police safety. Thank you for visiting our campus!

Embody the spirit of your favorite heroes - uniquely gifted and drug-free! Our Red Ribbon week wrapped up today with students dressed as treasured characters, experiencing pure joy! Let's stay committed to the purpose of this week - living a substance-free life and come together to safeguard this vision. Sincere thanks to our McAllen families for your active involvement and support! ❤️🎉

Today's Book Character Pumpkin Contest demonstrated remarkable creativity. Congratulations to our winners and all participants. The winning entries were: Taylor Swift by Angela Z. in 1st grade, Up by Yahir M. in 2nd grade, and Dog Man by Matt P. in 4th grade. We appreciate SBPA R. Quintanilla and the Hidalgo County Crime Scene Unit for their judging expertise. 🏅

A big thank you to IDEA Weslaco for hosting us and providing such a great environment. We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the parents and supporters who came out to cheer us on. We are beyond proud to announce that our school has been named one of America’s Healthiest Schools! 🏅🍎 This past Friday our Licensed Practical Nurse, Ms. Angie Lopez, LVN & our Health Aide, Samantha Orozco, along with Assistant Principal of Operations Ms. Melinda Villarreal attend the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Summit in Little Rock, Arkansas where IDEA McAllen was recognized for this achievement.

This recognition celebrates our commitment to fostering a healthy environment where students thrive, both physically and mentally. From nutritious meals in the cafeteria 🍽️, to wellness programs 🧘‍♂️, to active play and physical education 🏃‍♀️, every step we take promotes a healthier lifestyle for our entire community. Our annual fall festival was a truly enjoyable celebration! Our community united in festive spirit, reveling in each other's company, marveling at creative costumes, savoring delicious food, and witnessing the outstanding performances of our afterschool program! A big thank you to our AMAZING PTO for all their support, to our vendors and community partners for joining us as well as our tiger families! We hope you had loads of fun!

Stay Glitch Free-Just Say No to Drugs and Keep Life Running Smoothly! Yesterday we ended our week with Y2K day and had students and staff wear their best 2000’s attire! Thank you for participating, tigers!
