- 2 composition books (100 page, wide ruled)
- Loose leaf paper (150 pack, wide ruled)
- 1 set of pocket folders (2 pockets with brads/prongs) - yellow, red, blue, green, orange, and black or purple
- Ticonderoga # 2 Pencils (12 pack)
- 1 pair of scissors (children’s blunt tip)
- 3 glue sticks (small, all purpose)
- 5 highlighters (different colors)
- 2 Expo markers (black fine tip)
- Washable markers (10 pack)
- Magic Eraser (white)

This Sunday, we'll be preparing for our backpack filling event on Tuesday. There is lots to do to get the school supplies and backpacks organized for stuffing. Join us this week in the West Overflow Room off the Sanctuary!

REMINDER: This coming week is the last week to shop for our School Supply Collection!

Each year, our church family makes a difference in the lives of children in our community with our school supply collection and distribution.

This year, we will be filling backpacks and giving them to the McAllen ISD Counseling and Guidance Department, which includes counselors, social workers and migrant counselors who work with students each and every day! They know who needs help with these items the most. We will also distribute to Arise, Inc. our longtime partner serving in the colonias.

With your help, we hope to bless 150 children with filled backpacks this year! Here's how we'll do it:

STEP 1: Shop!

This Sunday, it's Undie Sunday, and we'll be sorting and bagging children's underwear and other clothing for children in need at the Humanitarian Respite Center. Join us this week in the West Overflow Room off the Sanctuary!

Heads up parents & youth!

W.O.W. (Word on Wednesday) for 3 year olds through 5th graders (as of Sept 1, 2024) will start back on Wednesday, September 4. Kids are invited to join us for playtime, snacks, fun bible lesson games and activities, and music every Wednesday afternoon, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Contact Andrea Ibanez ([email protected]) with any questions.

Youth Gatherings will also start back Wednesday, September 4. 6th through 12th graders are invited to gather to enjoy fellowship — chatting, crafting, drawing, playing ping-pong — eating pizza together, and engaging in a thoughtful Bible study every Wednesday evening from 6-8pm in Room 205 in the Education Building. Our busy lives are filled with decisions, but are they the important decisions?

In our Friendship Sunday School class' new study, Rev. Tom Berlin will help us discern six key decisions in our walk with Christ through his book "6 Decisions That Will Change Your Life." He will challenge us to think deeply about our faith and celebrate the stories of others with whom we are making the Christian journey.

Join the class every Sunday starting this Sunday through September 1 at 11:00am in Koinonia Room in the South building.

Join our Open Door Sunday School class for a new series about Jesus' take on politics, how Christians should approach politics, and what the role of the church is in politics.

Check out the awesome aprons made for our Emily's Meals volunteers by our partners at McAllen ISD RDSPD Regional Day School Program for the Deaf as a way of recognizing the relationships they made while serving together this year. They are the best! 🤟🏼

Calling all McFirst youth and friends!

We're taking a trip to South Padre Island THIS Friday! 🏖

The cost per student is $35, which includes admittance to Sea Turtles Inc., lunch, dinner, and transportation. We'll be meeting at the church at 8:15am.

Food pantry distribution this week at McFirst! The summer heat won't keep our volunteers down. ☀️ Thanks to all who make this happen, including those who pack the bags up on Sunday morning during Hands and Feet!

We need volunteers for VBS coming up at the end of this month!
