***Long post but important info for Seniors 2025***

Seniors 2025, I have had a lot of requests for Beach Sessions this year...a few things to consider if you are thinking about going that route for your Senior Session:

Senior Beach Sessions are much harder to schedule...please tell me at the time that you are scheduling that this is what you want. It takes a lot more time and planning on my part to schedule because of the travel time, and the amount of time the actual session takes. Also note that there is an additional fee for Beach Sessions.

Beach Sessions are very dependent on the weather...it may take a few reschedules to make it happen. It is very helpful to schedule at a time when you are already going to be at the island to keep an eye on the weather throughout the day, not to mentions, it helps if you are able to get ready for your session if you are staying there rather than a day trip.

Beach Sessions can be windy, which a concern for seniors with long hair..it might be frustrating, and hot, and you have to be willing to deal with that.

Some locations that I post from other sessions might be shot at private locations, and might not be available for other sessions. If you personally have a private property that would be great for a session, or can get permission to use a property, that is great! Think about your location that you would like to use, and check with me ahead of time.

Beach Sessions can be somewhat rushed at time...once the light is perfect on the beach, we have to move quickly before the light is gone, so locations and outfits have to be timed correctly... so planning is VERY important.

And lastly, because of all these reasons, I will only be offering a small amount of Senior Beach Sessions, and preferably these will take place before school starts. I cannot guarantee that I will be available for Beach Sessions after summer.

I'm so proud of Gavin! I have been photographing him since he was a little boy, and it seems like just yesterday that I did his Senior Session. A few things to start thinking about now...

CLOTHING OPTIONS...make sure to have your outfits ordered or purchased, try them on ahead of time, and have all accessories ready! Girls usually bring 2-3 outfits, boys bring 1-3. Feel free to bring your College t-shirt if you have already decided on where you are going, but don't worry if you haven't...I offer a complimentary Studio College Tshirt Session in May to all of my Seniors!

HAIR...it's best not to make any major changes to your hair right before your session. Boys, get a hair cut a few weeks in advance (not right before your session, unless your style requires that) and make sure to think about facial hair (will you have facial hair for your session, or will you be clean shaven?). That might be something you will need to talk to your parents about and come to a decision on together). For both girls and boys, I would not advise any changes to your hair color right before your session, but I would definitely advise addressing any root/color touch ups beforehand if that applies.

LOCATION! This is a big one! I prefer my clients to choose their location for outdoor sessions, especially if the look you are wanting is a pretty, green look. Unfortunately there are not very many great public options for outdoor sessions in McAllen (especially ones that are not overused). The best locations are often private properties (think about friends who have a great property...house or business, and ask them if you can use it for your session!). The main requirements for a great spot include lots of options for great backgrounds (water features like a pond), great fences or interesting gates or doors, pretty greenery, and lots of shade!
The main thing I look for is variety..you will want lots of different looks for your session, and f you like an urban look, downtown is the best option for you!

***IMPORTANT INFO FOR SENIORS 2025***

As my Senior Season comes to a close for 2024, I am ready to start working with the class of 2025! This year's session availability will be more limited than in years past, especially for sessions in the spring.

A few things to consider if you plan on scheduling a session with me:

Summer sessions take place VERY late in the evening because of the heat, BUT they can be very enjoyable once the heat of the day subsides, and doing your Senior Session in the summer means that you won't have to work around school and sports/extra curricular activities, and you won't be rushed to fit your session in around all of your other commitments.

IF you choose to wait until the school year starts, consider when you will be the most busy. If you are in football, cheerleading, volleyball, swimming, or any other activities that have their practices and games in the fall, then summer, or winter break, or very early spring is the best time to schedule....but if you are in soccer, track, or basketball, it is VERY difficult to schedule a session in the spring...summer or fall will work best for you. Lots of activities are year round, but take more commitment at different times of the year, so think back to years past, and consider what times of year were the busiest for you.

Spring is hard for all Seniors, regardless of what activities you are in. I've been doing Senior Sessions for many many years, and I've watched parents and kids struggle to find a date in the spring that works for everyone, so please plan ahead and try to schedule your session when you can most enjoy it. And to add to the normal craziness of spring, my personal schedule will be more demanding this year, and I will not be offering as many spring session dates as I have in the past.
