Our youngest attorney, Derek Law, successfully completed the William W. “Bill” Daniel Trial Advocacy Program this past week! This program is held at UGA’s campus in Athens, and is ran by the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL). The program has been producing high level trial attorneys since 1999. Only 30 young attorneys in Georgia are selected each year.

Every attorney in our office is a member of GACDL, which makes us so excited and proud to see Derek be selected for one of GACDL’s highest honors for young attorneys!

Lightning has struck twice this month at Sexton and Moody! Our very own Brad Moody passionately argued on behalf of one of our clients this week in trial. As of yesterday morning, the jury returned a verdict of NOT GUILTY!

Our client was acquitted of a DUI in Henry County State Court. We are so very proud of Brad and his sharpened trial skills.

Tomorrow is Indpendence Day, and we are so excited to add another reason to celebrate! Our office is immensely proud to announce that our very own, Joanna Arthur, participated in a trial last week where our client was determined to be not guilty! She was nothing short of a zealous advocate. Joanna, who is approaching a decade in practice, is a seasoned trial lawyer who performs when the going gets tough.

Our client was accused of heinous crimes. With the hard work and dedication Joanna has shown, our client was not convicted.

Our office would like to take time this morning to celebrate James Boles!

James Boles is a graduate of Kennesaw State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science as Magna Cum Laude of his class. While he was a student at Kennesaw State, James competed nationally as a member of the school’s mock trial team. He then attended Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School where he graduated with his Juris Doctorate.

While in law school, James was a board member for the Public Interest Law Society, a Justice of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and a member of the Student Advocacy Board Trial Competition team. James interned with The Lotti Law Firm, LLC., and Lee Sexton & Associates P.C., where he assisted in criminal, family law and personal injury cases.

After passing the Georgia Bar exam, James worked as a sole proprietor, founding the Law Office of James D. Boles, LLC., while working of counsel to Lee Sexton & Associates, P.C.

In March of 2022 he became a partner at Sexton & Moody, P.C., which is now proudly located off of the square of McDonough, GA!

James is currently a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity Alumni Society, as well as a member and previous metro-Atlanta Vice President of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He specializes in Criminal Defense, Family Law, Personal Injury, Estate Planning and Probate.
