We hope that your week is filled with laughter, great food, even better company, and lots of puppy loves! Just remember to keep a special eye on those sweet treats your friends and family will be showering you with!

Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, both of which can speed the heart rate and stimulate the nervous system of your pup. The risk of your pup becoming sick from ingesting chocolate depends on the type and amount of chocolate consumed and the weight of the pup. Below are a few types of chocolate listed in order of theobromine content:
• Cocoa powder (most toxic)
• Unsweetened baker’s chocolate
• Semisweet chocolate
• Dark chocolate
• Milk chocolate

If you know your pup has eaten chocolate, it’s important to monitor him for signs of toxicity, and it’s recommended that you contact your veterinarian or the Pet Poison Helpline (855-213-6680, fee applies) for advice.

Apples are a great source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Fiber for your pup. They are low in protein and fat, which makes them the perfect snack, especially for senior pups.

Just be sure to remove the core and the seeds before letting your pup snack on them. Apple seeds contain a chemical that, if chewed and ingested, will release traces of cyanide in to the blood stream. 😳
