We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Katrina Shelby, a valued Lead Clerk in the Collin County District Clerk’s office for nearly eight years. Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues. We’re providing support as we navigate this loss together.

We took a moment during yesterday's Commissioners Court to recognize the outstanding partnership and bravery of all Collin County area first responders who responded to the tragic mass shooting at the Allen outlet malls on May 6th last year, where 8 lives were tragically lost.

A special heartfelt recognition and thank you from members of the Allen Police Department was expressed to all first responders for their dedication and courage. We are incredibly grateful for our entire law enforcement community and their unwavering commitment to the citizens of Collin County.

Chief Steve Dye of the Allen Police Department expressed it best: "One of the things that we pride ourselves on in North Texas is teamwork, collaboration, partnerships. And you all in Collin County, you embody that commitment."

Together, we are stronger. 💪

Collin County Administrative Offices will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. We will resume normal operations on Friday, July 5th. We wish everyone a safe and joyful Fourth of July!

Today, we gave veteran County Administrator Bill Bilyeu a tremendous sendoff into retirement. One fitting of his outstanding service to the county for more than two decades. Thank you, Bill, for your extraordinary service and for making Collin County a better place for all of us. Enjoy this new chapter of your life!

Unincorporated Collin County was hit hardest by Saturday night’s EF3 tornado. “The damage is significant. We are immensely grateful there were no fatalities. We are working around the clock, exhausting all resources to restore our community,” said Judge Chris Hill

It is heartwarming to see the outpouring of love and support for our neighbors and friends in Celina. Collin County residents have again proven that often when we are at our worst, we see our best. The County and our most impacted areas have been flooded with numerous requests from residents asking how they can get involved with the recovery efforts.

Currently, we are directing volunteers or donors to the Minutemen Disaster Response and Texas Baptist Men disaster relief groups. These two organizations have been dedicated to helping those in need through many tragedies, and we encourage you to contact them directly if you wish to volunteer and assist those who need it the most at this time.

May 26, 2024

Last night, an unconfirmed F3 tornado struck Collin County, causing extensive damage in and near the city of Celina. Members of the Celina Fire Department were on scene immediately and began searching house by house to assist residents. Although several homes have been completely destroyed, preliminary reports indicate there were limited injuries and no fatalities. One family was trapped in their home and rescued by neighbors during the night. Overnight, approximately 15,000 county residences were without power due to downed power lines. As of 11:00 AM this morning, that number had been reduced to 2,146 active power outages. Collin County Judge Chris Hill has issued a disaster declaration for Collin County in response to the damage.

"I am heartbroken from the reports of devastation sustained by our friends and neighbors in Collin County last night," said Collin County Judge Chris Hill. "Our teams from Collin County, Celina, and partnering agencies worked throughout the night and will continue working throughout the day to clear the debris from roadways and to assess the damage to homes. I have directed county staff to deploy every resource available to provide assistance to residents whose homes were destroyed last night. Most of all, we are immensely grateful that there have been no reported fatalities. I am thankful for all of our first responders who acted swiftly as the calls came in throughout the night.”

Residents in immediate need of supplies and resources may contact GraceBridge, a nonprofit serving the families of Celina. GraceBridge will be open today at 402 South Oklahoma Drive in Celina to accept donations of essential supplies and resources for families in need.
