Thursday, we were asked by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office to bring an ambulance to this year’s D.A.R.E. camp and give them a little background in EMS. Nikki, Marie, and Sandy enjoyed teaching the kids a little bit about EMS and our equipment, along with some ambulance rides around the parking lot, of course with lights & sirens! 🚨 Maryland State Trooper 7 also joined us, with four of their crew and MVFD provided assistance with the landing zone. It was another scorcher, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Thank you SMCSO, for giving us this opportunity, we look forward to next year! 🚑🚓🚁🚒

Parents! Great safety info!!!
The extreme heat that St. Mary’s County is currently experiencing can lead to increased risk of outside fires. Please keep these tips in mind and remember to call 9-1-1 in the event of an uncontrolled outside fire. 🌡
💥Avoid activities that cause fire or sparks when conditions are dry and windy.
🧯Never leave a bonfire unattended and be sure to extinguish it completely before going inside.
🚗 Avoid driving and parking on dry grass.
🗑 Dispose of all cigarette butts and matches in a closed container or designated location.
🌭 Follow all recommendations for use of outdoor grills and keep a fire extinguisher nearby in case the grill becomes out of control.
🎇 Attend safe and permitted fireworks displays, and do not set off fireworks without the appropriate permits.
Huge thanks to Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad and Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department for inviting us to this mornings house burn!! We loved maintaining a good flowing rehab along side HVRS. Can’t wait for more drills with you guys!
Remember to stay hydrated and cool in these extreme temperatures! Stay safe, and stay happy! 😊❤️🚑
Our area is forecasted to have extremely high temperatures the next few days. Please make sure you stay hydrated, and check on your elderly neighbors/friends/family.
Happy Father's Day! We hope you have a safe and wonderful time celebrating with family and friends!!
Well, here we go. The first meeting of the SoMD Caregiver Support group will take place on Thursday June 13th at 6:30 p.m. at Real Life Church Life Church at 27399 Old Village Rd, Mechanicsville 20659. Thank you so much to them for their kindness in donating the space. Plus, thanks to Julie Perrotta for being an incredible sounding board and helping out. If you just want to talk about your experience, great! If you would just like to listen, that's fine also. I know how hard it is for some to get away even for a few moments. If you can make it, we can't wait to meet you. If you can't, hopefully we will see you next time.
This past Friday, members from our department took our newest Ambulance, A298, to the 73rd Annual Potomac River Festival Fire and Rescue Parade in Colonial Beach, VA. Where, they took home first place for the BLS Units!! Thank you so much to our Assistant Engineer Jeffrey Lytton for getting the ambulance perfectly cleaned and driving it down to the parade. And thank you Lia and Stephanie for accompanying him at the Parade. 🚑🏆

Last Night!! We were so busy we didn’t get pictures, but we want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved. Thank you Hill's Country-Store for allowing us to host our event, and helping us be successful. Thank you Ethan Suthard for helping organize the event. And thank you to everyone who came and participated in our event and bought our raffle items. It truly is amazing seeing our community come and support our rescue squad. This couldn’t have been done without our outstanding community.
Thanks everyone!
