July is Bebe Moore Campbell Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Month. This observance seeks to raise awareness of disparities in the prevalence of mental illness and access to mental health treatment faced by minority individuals. On average, men in the United States die nearly 6 years earlier than women and are at higher risk for many serious diseases, including heart disease, lung cancer, and HIV. It's our final resource Friday for Mental Health Awareness Month. Today we're highlighting the Riverside Community Behavioral Health Center in Norwood. This CBHC is a new model of care for MassHealth & Optum Commercial members. They offer treatment for: mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.

Self-Care Sunday! We're focusing on recreational self care-- taking the time to enjoy the simple pleasures that life has to offer. Check out these tips to incorporate recreational self-care into your daily life.
Resource Friday! We're highlighting NAMI Family Support Groups. A nonjudgmental environment where family of individuals with mental health conditions can discuss concerns, learn about local resources, and benefit from one another’s collective knowledge and experience. Led by NAMI-trained facilitators who are also family members, they provide comfort, hope, and a sense of community.
You don't have to be a professional to offer hope and help to those considering su***de. Medfield Outreach can provide a free 2-hour QPR: Su***de Prevention Training for Medfield residents, aged 18+. All you need is a group of 8-15 people willing to learn how to offer hope in a time of distress.
